the catastrophe of the Ethiopian airplane crash in Lebanon

Fadlullah: The tragedy is part of the Lebanese grievances, and the Lebanese have proven that they deserve to live

His Eminence, the Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, saw that the tragedy of the Ethiopian airplane represents a part of the general Lebanese grievances, which was shared with some families from other nationalities. He pointed out that the Lebanese have demonstrated in this catastrophe an outstanding state of cohesion, unity, and interaction, as a people that deserves to live. He emphasized that this represents a call for those in charge to shoulder their responsibilities in seeking to found a just and capable state, in which everybody is equal before the law and which will protect and embrace the Lebanese talents and competencies, instead of forcing them to immigrate which could come at a high price, as in the last tragedy.

His Eminence, Sayyed Fadlullah, saw that the tragedy of the plane, with all its pains that befell the Lebanese, is part of the general Lebanese grievances, which was shared with some families from other nationalities, making the Lebanese pains, whether in the South, North, Bekaa, or other regions, persist in the course of their continuous dignified pursuit to attain a level of social and psychological peace, which could somehow alleviate their pains and reduce their continuous problems as a result of the economic and political instability; a situation that is reflected on all their situations and daily life.

He added: The Lebanese, of all groups, affiliations, sects, and confessions have demonstrated in this ordeal an outstanding state of cohesion, unity, sympathy, and interaction, and they have confirmed through this vital interaction in which many official, popular, and staff took part that they deserve to live and that they are capable of overcoming their crises and difficult problems so as to preserve their unity in the face of the ordeals and tragedies no matter how catastrophic and hard they were…

He emphasized that this represents a call for those in charge to shoulder their responsibilities in seeking to found a just and capable state, in which everybody is equal before the law. Such a state should be able to protect and embrace the Lebanese talents and competencies, and benefit from the potentials of its children to invest them in the internal arena, instead of forcing them to immigrate which could come at a high price as they seek a better life and providing the best living conditions to their parents and families. The price they would pay is so high, that it might even cost them their lives, leaving behind pains, miseries, and ordeals throughout this small country that has always suffered from the occupation and Zionist aggression, as well as wars and internal catastrophes, political instabilities and complications; so the last thing this country needs is other catastrophes the last of which was the catastrophe of the Ethiopian airplane that made everyone cry and left them in a state of sorrow and grief.

His Eminence paid his condolences to the parents and families of the Lebanese and Ethiopian victims, as well as the victims of other nationalities, asking Allah to shower them with His mercy and make heaven their abode, and grant their parents and families patience and forbearance.
