| Sayyed Fadlullah: Monday is the first day of the month of Ramadan |
The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, issued a statement announcing that next Monday, the 1st of September 2008, is the first day of the month of Ramadan. He said:
Based on accurate astronomical calculations that we trust (the birth of the crescent and the ability to see it across the world), it has been jurisprudentially proven to us that next Monday will mark the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan.
On this blessed occasion, we pray to Allah, the Almighty, to return this month on all Muslims with good, victory and unity and to end strives in their societies and liberate their countries from the Zionist, American and British occupation as well as from the troops of the North Atlantic alliance and all other arrogant powers. We also pray to Allah that this month will bestow good and reconciliation among all Lebanese.
