| Fadlullah: Next Monday is the first of Muharram and Ashoura day is on Wednesday 7/1/2009 |
The Religious Authority H.E. Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah issued a communiqué that stated:
It has been jurisprudently proven to us that the first of Muharram, the beginning of the year 1430H is on Monday 29/12/2008. Hence, Ashoura is on Wednesday 7/1/2009. We pray Allah, the Most Exalted, to let the new year be a year of good blessings and victory for the Islamic nation. We also ask Him to support the Muslims in all that gives them more strength and enhances their participation in the cultural and civilized domain. He is the One Who responds to our prayers.
