| Sayyed Fadlullah: The value of the Resistance in Lebanon lies in the fact that it inspired the Arab and Muslim peoples, rehabilitated them and their causes, and obliged the world to recognize their rights |
The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah stressed the need for Arabs and Muslims to benefit from the experience of the Resistance in Lebanon in the recent prisoner exchange deal to force the arrogant world and the so-called "International Community" to recognize our rights.
The Sayyed saw that this experience rehabilitated the Arabs and Muslims who were ignored by their governments and treated by the international organizations as citizens of the sixth-class, after these organizations had put the Jews at the top of their priorities.
He also considered that it is shameful for the Arab governments to ignore their prisoners in the enemy's prisons or to be afraid of raising their cases, knowing that some of them were buried alive, or to leave their prisoners enchained and re-imprison them after they had received them from Israel.
H.E. saw that the value of the Resistance in Lebanon lies in the fact that it inspired the Arab and Muslim peoples, rehabilitated them and their causes, and obliged the world to recognize their rights.
The Sayyed issued a statement regarding the recent prisoners exchange deal and its significance. He said:
The exchange deal with the enemy's entity, the way it was performed with the conditions that the Resistance imposed, rehabilitated the Arabs and Muslims whom the Arab governments abandoned and the international organizations treated as citizens of the sixth-class, after giving priority to the Jews whose interests were taken into consideration in all the international decisions/resolutions related to the Arab-Israeli struggle. Besides, the arrogant countries have drawn their foreign policies on the basis of respecting the Jews' interests and accepting their conditions.
The Resistance in Lebanon was able to give back to the Arab and Muslim world its balance and presence vis-à-vis the mythical image of the enemy that the regimes and their agencies drew and worked on sticking it in the popular mind in order to prevent our peoples from playing their role in confronting the occupier.
It is shameful for the Arab regimes to ignore their prisoners and detainees or to accept the enemy's conditions and thus move their prisoners enchained from the enemy's prisons to their own. We also know that some Arab officials were displeased when the media raised the cause of our prisoners and revealed the brutality of the enemy in burying them alive.
Therefore, the value of the resistance in Lebanon – through the recent exchange of prisoners – lies not only in this renewed inspiration it gave to the Arab and Muslim peoples, but also in its ability to rehabilitate their causes, rights and human beings and to oblige the entire world to recognize these rights and causes and appreciate the Arab and Muslim people who were intended to remain in the sphere of weakness, imprisonment, consumption, backwardness and ignorance.
The exchanging of prisoners represented a shock to this arrogant world and to the so called "International Community". That is because this world did not only remain silent towards the destruction of Lebanon and the killing of its children, women and elderly during the Israeli war on Lebanon in July 2006, but it also worked on preparing the political, media and even the security atmospheres for Israel to legitimize its war on Lebanon, in a bid to end the Resistance and kill the spirit of opposition in the nation. We have also seen that the entire world did not utter any word regarding all the Israeli massacres in the war on Lebanon and was not worried except about the Resistance's capture of the two Israel soldiers and kept on calling for releasing them without any conditions, while ignoring the Lebanese and thousands of Palestinian and Arab detainees in the enemy's prisons.
We should learn from the significant experience of the Resistance in Lebanon in dealing with this arrogant world in order to force it to recognize our rights and respect our peoples. We also have to insist on our adhering to the basic principles that preserve our causes, especially the Palestinian and the Iraqi ones – despite all pressures that are being exerted on us in the Arab as well as in other worlds in order to drive us to offer concessions that might drop our causes, and our Arab and Muslim dignity and personality.
