Fadlullah received at his residence in Mecca a delegation of Hezbollah headed by Sheikh Yazbek
| The Sayyed: The resistance has offered much for the Islamic movement, but we need a cultural resistance to face myth and exaggeration |
His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlullah said that the resistance rendered the Islamic movement a symbol for resistance and confrontation with the global arrogance and its Zionist agent in the region. But we are still in need of a cultural resistance within an Islamic project in the face of myth and superstition.
His Eminence pointed out that Islam is a trust given to us for safekeeping and thus we must be open to all Muslims and keen to communicate with them and respect their Islamic ideology and heritage. Islam is enriched by an internal dialogue movement and is disrupted by the exchange of accusations. For his part, Member of Hezbollah Shura Council Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek said the directions of Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlullah contributed to the victories and accomplishments of the Resistance.
His Eminence Sayyed Fadlullah continued his activities in Holy Mecca and received at his residence in Mecca a delegation from Hezbollah headed by Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek along with Deputies Hussein Al-Hajj Hassan and Ali Al-Moqad, Former Deputy Mohamamd Berjawi, the Chairman of the Cultural Bureau Sheikh Ahmad Barakat, and Arab Relations' Bureau Sheikh Hassan Ezz al-Din.
The meeting addressed a number of current Islamic affairs and the influence of the pilgrimage on the social and political and spiritual Islamic context and how to benefit from the pilgrimage season to reinforce the Islamic unity and relinquish fanatic feelings and sensitivities aimed at creating a chasm between the Sunnis and the Shiites.
His Eminence the Sayyed addressed the delegation on the new beginnings of the Islamic movement in the last century. He stressed the key role played by Al-Najaf Hawzah [religious school] and its scholars and thinkers in enhancing the Islamic movement, thus contributing to the development of many Islamic concepts which the Islamic Revolution in Iran - namely the efforts of Imam Khomeini - strived to consecrate and attempted to pitch as patterns for the ability of Islam to propose and implement its political and ideological and cultural and administrative approaches in this modern era.
His Eminence said Islam is a trust given to us for safekeeping, thus we must be open to other Muslims and keen to communicate with them and respect their Islamic ideology and heritage. Islam is enriched by an internal dialogue movement, while it is disrupted by the exchange of accusations and by holding each others as infidels, especially when each side attempts to verify the rightness of its approaches by discrediting the others. Hence, we must meet and talk aside from antagonism, envy, and estrangement.
His Eminence said: "The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon rendered the Islamic movement in general a symbol for resistance and direct confrontation with the global arrogance and its Zionist agent in the region. The Resistance spread the culture of victory in the Arab and Islamic world after this world has become addicted to the culture of defeat and to worsening the wounds of the oppressed by refuting their rights and causes.
But I believe that despite all these accomplishments made by the Resistance, we sill need another kind of resistance which is not any less important than the military and security and jihadist resistance. We need a cultural form of resistance within an Islamic project so as to face the trend of exaggeration and myth and backwardness. This trend is pitching itself on our arena in the face of the trend of wisdom and openness.
His Eminence said that many wise figures, who respect the trends and awareness, are imposing themselves on the Islamic arena, namely the scholars in Qom and others.
His Eminence stressed that Lebanon, which launched the resistance and made many sacrifices for the nation, should be open to the conscious and innovated Islamic movement and the contemporary and tolerant Islamic ideology which seeks to present a civilized image of Islam and Shi'ism.
His Eminence also said that despite all the crisis engulfing Lebanon, it is still a real foundation for an open culture. His Eminence, Sheikh Muhammad Yazbek commented on the statement of Sayyed Fadlullah saying: We are always in need for your directions, especially the ones you are giving from this Holy Mosque and which stress the need to work for another aspect of resistance, the cultural resistance. He also noted that the Resistance benefited from these directions which contributed to its victories and accomplishments.
