Fatima Az-Zahra' (a.s.) and the logic of the Right

On the occasion of the death of Fatima Az-Zahra' (a.s.). The Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah talked about the meaning of being the Lady of the Women of the Worlds… and as we do whenever we remember this infallible lady, we pause to benefit from this purified role model that is distinguished with its nearness to Allah, as well her moral values and virtues that made her the lady of the women of the world, which means having the most honorable virtues a woman can have, and think that she is the role model in all aspects of her personality:

Thus, when we relive her memory, we, men and women, seek to meet the woman whose spirituality made her one of the nearest persons to Allah, and the woman whose knowledge was unique in that no contemporary woman had. If, for example, we study the speech she delivered to the Ansar and Muhajireen, we will find out that it represents a lecture on the philosophy of prophethood and the oneness of Allah, as well as the characteristics of the Glorious Quran and Islamic law and jurisprudence; using all this to provide evidence that she had the right to inherit her father as Suleiman inherited Dawood and Yahia inherited Zakariya.

Thus, we would feel that she was strong in defending the right and strengthened by it. She believed in Ali's right, but not because he was her husband and cousin. Thus , she was not motivated by emotion, although she had the purist passions and emotions. Yet, she defended the right of Ali (a.s. )because she was convinced of it.

She heard the Messenger (p.) say: "Whoever I am his Maula, then Ali is his Maula". “O Ali, you are to me like Haroon was to Musa, except that there is no Prophet after me”, “Ali is with the right and the right is with Ali…” “I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate”… She heard him say all that and much more both in public and in her house to Ali (a.s.) and herself. She learnt from this that Ali (a.s.) is her Imam after the Messenger(p). Thus in the speech in the mosque she felt that she had to stand with Ali and the right he represents. That is why all her speech was about Ali's unique qualities and virtues. It was a speech based on reason and not on emotion.

This is the lesson we need to learn from Lady Az-Zahra’ :to stand with the right and seek to convince others of it, using the Islamic method that is based on proof, and arguing with the best means.

Dear beloved

We need, men and women ,to learn from the Lady of the Women of the Worlds... This infallible purified lady who was a part of the Messenger(p.) who used to be hurt by what hurts her, angered by what angered her and pleased by what pleased her, since she was not pleased except with what pleases Allah and did not get angry except from what angered Allah.

We too have to follow this example and educate ourselves on not being pleased except with what pleases Allah and angered except with what angers Allah no matter how trivial a thing right be. This is what it means to be a follower of Ahl el-Beit: To be with Allah His Messenger and Islam ,as they were.

Following Ahl el-Beit is not a matter of emotion; it is a stand with the right and with Truth… the Truth of Allah.
