Fadlullah met Saloukh and received a cable from Seniora:
Let the holidays be an occasion for dialogue and not for political debate that is ungoverned by ethical rules.

The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received the resigned foreign minister, Fawzi Saloukh, who offered him season's greetings. The meeting touched on the developments of the internal situation. Minister Saloukh affirmed that the efforts to ease the situation are still going on, despite the fact that the international powers, especially the Americans, are trying to postpone the solution as long as possible.

H.E. stressed the need for the Lebanese to find a way out of the circle of external pressures to try to formulate internal solutions made totally by the Lebanese. The Sayyed pointed out that the American effort to widen the gap between the Lebanese stems from the American need to continue to use the Lebanese card in the regional and international struggle in the area.

H.E. stressed that the Eids should be an occasion for dialogue and spiritual and political opening up among religious sects and an occasion to conduct a positive and objective dialogue, and not for the political debate that is not governed by any ethical rules and which could widen the difference between the Lebanese and increase the prevailing pessimism.

H.E. then, received Dr. Adnan Sayyedhussein, who discussed with him the internal situation and the ideological and cultural roots of the current crisis. The Sayyed affirmed that the absence of the spirit of serious and objective dialogue among the Lebanese youth and in the universities has taken part in widening the internal gab, and in creating a complicated atmosphere between the youth and other parties, especially that the sectarian and fanatical spirit is rising at the expense of the national feeling.

H.E. received a cable from Prime Minister Seniora in which he praised the Sayyed's positions that support the unity of the Lebanese and of the state and its institutions.
