Sayyed Fadlullah received Kamal Chatila,
President of the People's Congress
The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received
Kamal Chatila, President of the People's Congress, and discussed with him
the general situations in Lebanon and the region.
The meeting focused on the effects of the events of Nahr Al-Barid camp
on the Palestinian-Lebanese relations. It was emphasized that the
Palestinian families should be embraced and returned to their camp. It
was also emphasized that all concerned parties should work on improving
their conditions as well as the conditions of the families neighboring
the camp. Thus, the big responsibly, in this respect, lies on the
shoulders of the Lebanese state.
The meeting also touched on the Muslim – Muslim relationships amidst
the current circumstances. In this respect, The Sayyed emphasized that
the central and moderate trends in the Sunni and Shiite spheres, should
be protected and encouraged. He also stressed the necessity to work side
by side to enhance the Islamic as well as the national unity, indicating
that Muslim unity is a fundamental element in enhancing stability in
Lebanon. He also emphasized that the Sunnis and the Shiites should always
meet on all levels, in order to be able to establish a unity on the
ground to overcome all attempts of creating discord and fragmentation.
