Sayyed Fadlullah received Amine Gemayel, the Supreme President of the "Phalange Party"

The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received Amine Gemayel, the Supreme President of the "Phalange Party" and discussed with him the Lebanese developments and the means to solve the Lebanese crisis in view of the imminent presidential elections.

Sayyed Fadlullah offered his condolences to President Gemayel for the assassination of MP Antoine Ghamen, condemning the ugly crime of murdering him. He also emphasized the necessity to work on preventing the criminals from plunging the country into mazes by enhancing reconciliation in Lebanon in order to protect political security and national peace.

His Eminence praised Gemayel's stand that calls for resorting to the judiciary and not accusing this party or that.

Sayyed Fadlullah referred to the interaction between the Lebanese crisis and the region's crises, pointing out to the possibility to reach internal solutions that reduce the foreign interference and prevent security tremors. He also stressed that those who are wise should contain those who rush to use tense and raging rhetoric because of the danger of such rhetoric on the political level and its effects on the people's trust in their country, future and their life conditions.

His Eminence stressed that everyone should work day and night to solve this crisis and restore the bonds between the Lebanese, since if the political trust is regained among parties, Lebanon will be able to revive despite the acute crisis and its effects on the economic situation.

Following the meeting, President Gemayel said:

The meeting is a natural one, since this house is our house and His Eminence is one of the national religious authorities that we are proud of and that represent a guarantee for the country. And from time to time, I visit His Eminence, to follow his guidance and be enlightened with his ideas regarding all issues.

Gemayel added: In this meeting, we discussed all current issues, and the opinion of His Eminence is well known, since he always calls for reconciliation and good. Beside, he supports all the initiatives that serve the county's interests and encourages everyone to follow this path, especially amidst this critical situation that the country is passing through.
