Receiving the Representative of the PLO,
Fadlullah called for keeping the Palestinian cause in mind in order not
to allow the regional and sectarian feuds to eliminate it
|
The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received a
delegation of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), headed by
Abbas Zaki, the Representative of the organization in Lebanon, and
discussed with him the situation in Palestine, Lebanon and the region.
In the meeting, His Eminence emphasized that the Palestinian cause is the
mother of all causes. Thus, we ought to work on strengthening it in order
not to allow the regional and sectarian feuds to eliminate it. He also
stressed on the importance of the unity of the Palestinians as a basis
for preserving this unity, calling for backing up the Palestinian people
who were able with their youth, children, women and elderly to hold
steadfast against the attempts that sought to eliminate and terminate
this cause.
In addition, His Eminence indicated the necessity of respecting the
Palestinians in any Arab country where they reside as guests and not to
oppress or siege them. On the other hand, he stressed that the
Palestinians should be good guests and study all the objective
circumstances that surround the country they live in, especially in Iraq
that is living a state of madness, in which Iraqis are killing one
another. He also called on them to be conscious and accurate in their
stands and performance there.
Besides, His Eminence warned against stirring up sectarian strives in the
context of the political discords in more than one Arab and Islamic
country, calling for adhering to the Islamic unity in order to confront
the challenges that aim at fragmenting the nation, toppling and
dominating it.
Following the meeting, Zakki declared:
In these difficult circumstances, we ought to meet H.E. Sayyed Muhammad
Hussein Fadlullah due to his profound thought, history, and relationships
with Palestine, and thus we need to listen to his opinions and advices.
We have discussed with him the sufferance of the Palestinian people in
Palestine due to occupation, the sufferance of the Palestinian refugees
in Iraq who are being kidnapped, arrested and murdered and the sufferance
of our people in Lebanon whose situation is exceptional, and who the
Palestinians can neither work nor possess an apartment. We also
discussed with H.E. the dialogues that we are holding. Consequently, we
found that His Eminence is very concerned about Palestine, and we asked
him to exert more efforts for supporting its cause. That is because
whenever troubles become pitch-black and people stop thinking, we come to
the wise man who loves Palestine and has made many statements regarding
it, whether that which express his full trust in the Fateh Movement, the
movement of martyrdoms that, God willing, is going to achieve its
ambition of liberation, or that which are about Palestine. Hence, H.E.
said that the sanctity of Palestine does not lie in its stones, but
rather in the blood that was poured for the Palestinian cause.
Accordingly, we have a deep trust in this Religious Scholar whose house
has been targeted by the Israeli aggression. We are with him in the same
trench and he represents a lever for our cause. He also indicated to all
those who desire to undermine the Palestinian cause that this cause
should have the priority in the agendas of free and noble men in the Arab
and Islamic nation, so that our people will not lose hope and will not be
frustrated as long as we have His Eminence and those who are like him.
