The Religious Authority, H.E. Sayyed Muhammad Hussein
Fadlullah emphasized the necessity of keeping civil peace, and protecting
the Lebanese army as a symbol of the country's unity. H.E. pointed out
that Lebanon is passing through one of the most critical stages.
The Sayyed also praised the political and religious
cooperation of Sunnis and Shiites in Pakistan, despite the attempts of
certain Takfiri movements to create dissension among them.
He also called for preserving the national and Islamic
unity in Kuwait and praised the unifying cultural projects being executed
in the county.

Fadlullah received former minister, John Ubaid. The meeting reviewed the
general situation in Lebanon, especially the latest political and
security developments in the country in view of the latest events, in the
north and the blasts in Ashrafiah and Verdan.
Sayyed Fadlullah asserted in the meeting that the
stage Lebanon is passing through is one of the most critical ones. And
that there is a need in view of the developments for a collective
national stand to preserve civil peace, protect national unity and the
Lebanese Army, being a symbol of national unity. He indicated that if
things get out of control in one place, especially since it is
accompanied by the tense discourse and the exchange of accusations, it
will make the country vulnerable to increasingly mounting political and
security shocks.
The meeting emphasized the significance of the
positive role the various religious authorities should play to bring
closer the political parties’ points of views, urging for adopting a
unifying rhetoric on the national and religious levels. The meeting also
emphasized that all concerned, political and other leaders, should take
the necessary steps, to protect the country from foreign penetrations,
especially in these difficult times.
H.E also received Sayyed Sajid Nakawi, who headed a
delegation of the "Islamic movement" in Pakistan. Sayyed Nakawi talked
about the Islamic cooperation between the Shiites and the Sunnis in
Pakistan, especially between the parliamentarian blocs of the opposition,
despite the attempts of Takfiri groups to create dissension.
H.E. Sayyed Fadlullah emphasized the importance of
adopting the Islamic discourse that refuses any abuse to the companions
of the Prophets, his wives, the mothers of believes and Ahl el-Beit. He
stressed on the need of adopting a unifying line in all political and
religious issues especially in confronting the American plans in the
region – that aim to make the Sunnis and the Shiites tools in its unjust
projects in the region,
H.E. also received the Secretary General of the
Islamic National Alliance in Kuwait, Hussein Maatouk, who headed a
delegation from the alliance. The Sayyed praised the cultural and
intellectual projects being executed in Kuwait that are based on Islamic
unity. He called to formulate a practical mechanism to promote unity in
the daily lives of the Shiites and Sunnis in Kuwait, to ensure that the
unity of the Kuwaitis is cemented and their cohesion is intensified.
