The Religious Authority, H.E. Sayyed
Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received Amr Moussa, the Secretary General of
the Arab League and discussed with him the situations in Lebanon and the
region. The talks focused on Moussa’s Arab mission and his initiative
that aimed at solving the problems and achieving “political
reconciliation among rival Lebanese factions”. The talks also touched on
the internal Arab relations and the role that should be carried out by
all the parties in order not to present the Lebanese political issue in a
sectarian context.
Following the talks,
Moussa said:
“I am so glad to meet His Eminence. I
listened to many of his valuable analyses, and I admired his profound
awareness of the developments, even on the level of the developments of
this day and his great concern about the mission I am commissioned to
perform in the name of the Arab League. I also thanked him for his
support and supplications.”
He added: “I hope Lebanon "returns to
normal life as soon as possible. Of course, all the parties should hold
this responsibility and that is why I called on all the Lebanese parties
in the press conference that I held before leaving Lebanon last time, to
announce that it is for everyone’s interest that the situation in
Lebanon, should return to normal life, so that people will be able live
in peace.
When he was asked if there are any parties
who obstruct his mission in Lebanon, he said:
“There are plenty of supporters for
this mission in Lebanon, "because it will help cool the tense situation
in the region as well."
