The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein
Fadlullah, received Ex. Hussein Darrar, the Egyptian Ambassador and
discussed with him the general situation and recent developments in
Lebanon.
His Eminence emphasized
the importance of the Arab and Egyptian attempts aimed at achieving
“political reconciliation among rival Lebanese factions”. He also
stressed on the necessity of driving out sectarianism form the internal
Lebanese political considerations.
Sayyed Fadlullah
indicated that the crisis in Lebanon is caused by the sectarian regime
that turned the country into a base for the interests of others. Besides,
he emphasized the importance of adhering to the national unity that helps
in finding the solutions and securing the adequate atmospheres which are
good for solving the current and future conflicts.
The Egyptian Ambassador
declared that: “Sayyed Fadlullah is characterized with transparency,
honesty and by the true Islamic spirit that does not differentiate
between one sect and another or between one religion and another. Hence,
form the perspective of the true citizenry, His Eminence sees that there
must be a solution for the present situation in Lebanon that gives each
party its rights.”
In addition to discussing
the Iraqi situation, Fadlullah and Darrar discussed the Palestinian issue
since it is the mother issue that worries his Eminence. Both parties
agreed to support the attempts of the Arab sister countries, especially,
in Lebanon, since, these attempts are based on listening to the ideas of
rival parties and trying to reconcile between them. Therefore, we should
support such attempts to attain what is good for Lebanon’s sake.
Replying to a question,
Darrar added,: “everyone who accuses Egypt of supporting one party
against the others must review all the Egyptian stands and declarations.
I would also like to repeat that every party condemns any interference
between the brothers if it reaches conclusions that they do not like.
He also said: “Egypt did
not define its stand regarding any of the internal issues of dispute; it
has only warned against the slipping away of deterioration. President
Husni Mubarak, has once said in a declaration that taking to the streets
is not a rational act, whether it is done by the opposition or by the
loyalty, but, he did not say that it is an unconstitutional act and did
not oppose it.
This declaration shows
that the President of the biggest Arab country is concerned about the
region. Is this concern considered hostile? All parties should know that
the required solutions cannot be imported from outside”. He added that:
“The adequate solutions should be made in Lebanon.”
