The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received the President of "Tadamun Party", Emil Rahmeh and discussed with him the general situation in Lebanon and the region.

His Eminence emphasized during the meeting that Lebanon has become not only a courtyard, but also a toy that many manipulate, according to their interests.

The Sayyed saw that American intervention in the details of the Lebanese affairs might reach a level that could put an end to the atmosphere of optimism that prevailed lately. In this respect, the Sayyed cited the American Ambassador talk about the qualities of the Lebanese president and that he should seek to implement UN resolutions, including resolution 1559. He concluded that America is trying to show the world that it is running the show in Lebanon and that all other roles whether Arab or foreigners should not outpace the American role. At the same time, it insists on suggesting that it is not intervening in Lebanon, and that it wants others to do the same. Such a state of affairs might further complicate the situation and increase the suspicions at a time the Lebanese need some one who would open for them a window of opportunity to achieve their freedom and independence, whether through electing a president or other means.

On his part Mr. Rahmeh emphasized the need to benefit from Sayyed Fadlullah's wisdom who always calls on every one to put himself in place of the other so that he would love for him what he loves for himself and hate for him what he hates for himself.
