Fadlullah denounces the Karachi Massacre:

Sayyed Fadlullah: Shiite and Sunni Religious scholars should hold their responsibilities in confronting this dangerous phenomenon.

The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, has denounced the barbaric suicide attacks that targeted crowds of Muslim worshippers who were celebrating the anniversary of the Prophet's birth in Karachi. The Sayyed pointed out that the attack is an expression of a blind hatred that has nothing to do with Islam.

His also pointed out to the danger of the spread of such a apostating mentality that carries a devastating lethal spirit against human beings and Muslims, regardless of their sects or beliefs, since these groups have violated all sacred laws including the killing of Muslims and innocent people.

In a communiqué, he issued to comment on the suicidal attack, the Sayyed said:

It is very difficult to imagine such blocked and killing mentalities do exist. They are not even hindered by the scene of congregational prayers of a group of Muslims who belong to a moderate sect that denounces violence, especially among Muslims, nor are they hindered by the noble occasion of the birth of the most honorable Prophet(p.) who was sent as a Mercy to all mankind.

The killers exploded their hatred and ignorance in the midst of the believing worshippers killing and wounding scores of Muslims, in a blood scene that the nation is paying the price for, from its reputation, position and authenticity, as a result of its recurrence in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other countries.

Those who are committing these massacres against Muslims are not martyrs; they are criminals who have distorted the image of Islam in the world, and killed innocent people that Allah deemed unlawful, which will make them face the Divine punishment for all these crimes.

Moreover, such atrocities, including that in Pakistan, prove once again that those who are committing them do not differentiate between a Shiite Muslim or a Sunni Muslim.

In fact, they do not differentiate between one human being and another if his opinion is different than theirs. That is why there is a great responsibility on all of us, especially the Shiite and Sunni clerics, to study in the light of the tolerant teachings of Islam and Prophet Muhammad(p.) , the means of dealing with this dangerous phenomenon that poses a great danger on Islam and Muslims as well as all of mankind. Such a phenomenon will undermine the nation's major causes, and even its fate and very existence.

As we feel the threat these apostating parties pose on the Islamic reality , we like the Muslims, especially those in Pakistan, to be aware of the dangers of the American interference in Pakistani politics, since this interference and the pressures on the Pakistani government aim at creating anarchy in the country. And we would like the Pakistani government to be mindful of the dangerousness of following the American instructions, and open up on its people and protect the country from the American violence as well as that of the apostates.
