| The Juristic Office: It is permissible for the emulators of the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra), to continue to emulate him in a comprehensive manner |
The Juristic Office of the renovating jurisprudent Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (r.a) issued a second statement to further explain the issue of emulation. Following is the text of the statement:
"In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful, and praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Peace be upon His Messenger, Muhammad (p.), and his household and selected companions, and upon all the prophets and messengers." "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return."
May Allah bestow His rewards on us all for [humbly accepting] the loss of the Grand Ayatollah, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra), the renovating and pious jurisprudent.
The Juristic Office, to further explain what was stated in the previous statement on the issue of emulation, has issued the following statement:
Firstly: The loss of His Eminence (ra) represents a big academic loss, since he was effectively active in the various scientific fields in a comprehensive, illuminating and methodological manner. Furthermore, he was uniquely distinguished by his jurisprudential methodology, which made him one of the great scholars who are of a rare recurrence in history, and who established a jurisprudential school of thought that lasts for scores of years. He also enriched the Islamic thought and jurisprudence, making him one of the scholars whom the Messenger (p.) was talking about when he (p.) said: "Allah sends in every century someone who would renovate for the nation its religion."
Secondly: We have seen that the contemporary jurisprudents have agreed that it is either obligatory or permissible to continue to emulate a deceased Marjaa, especially if the emulator believes that he is the most knowledgeable or does not know that one scholar (jurist) in particular is more knowledgeable than the deceased. Moreover, many jurisprudents have had their reservations on the need to emulate the most knowledgeable, in the first place, especially that the Muslim community has witnessed, throughout its history, the emergence of several jurisprudents, at the same time, whom the people were divided in emulating, without leading to any rifts or negative consequences. There are even some jurists who deem it permissible to start emulating by choosing a deceased Marjaa.
Accordingly, it is permissible for the emulators of our master, the renovating jurisprudent, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra), to continue to emulate him in all matters and issues.
Thirdly: Our office, with its staff composed of the Sayyed's (ra) students, will continue to serve the emulators of His Eminence (ra), whether regarding issues pertaining to Fatwas or other juristic matters. |
