The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, released a statement in which he warned against the American interference in Lebanon. H.E. said:

Some countries have decided to play a new role on the margin of the American role and to listen to the American Vice-President who, in his latest visit to the region , has urged these countries to engage themselves in the American plan that aims at intimidating Iran on the one hand and squeezing the Palestinians in the corner on the other hand. This plan constitutes a part of the pressures exerted on the Arab and Islamic world; as if America was a victorious power though it has sunk in the quagmire of failure in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as in Palestine and Lebanon.

We understand from the attempts to escalate pressure including the bloody aggressions against the opposition and resistance movements in Palestine, through parties that have relations with the American Administration and with Arab groups that serve this administration at times, and through the Israeli enemy at other times… we understand that there is an alternative plan that is being prepared for Palestine after the failure of the previous plan which aimed at making Hamas and the Intifada factions open a hole in the wall of the settlement for the interests of Israel and the Arab initiative that has been directed by the Americans. Moreover, the timing of the movement of this alternative plan came in accordance with the American need to make a breakthrough on the Arab – Israeli level.

This yielding of the Arab officials to the American Administration makes one Arab official say some words that show the state of disgrace those officials are living in and reveal how much they are involved in the American project. Hence, he said in an internal political session that "Israel is our ally and Iran is our enemy". He even defended the Israeli possession of nuclear weapons because he considers that this weapon helps him and others in confronting Iran, in a disastrous reading that reminds us of the historical mistake that was represented by the yielding of some official Arabs, in the beginning of the last century, to the game of the foreign conqueror . It is also represented by their involvement in the colonist's project – in a direct or indirect way – and their differences with the Arab and Islamic project, as well as their strategic submission to the American and Israeli interests and to the other arrogance and prevailing countries.

In the midst of this disastrous change that does not take into consideration even the failure that afflicted the American project; we call the Arab and Islamic opposition powers to be more consistent and cautious because the American Administration decided to use Arab cards this time to fall the Arabs and Muslims having used to rely on their silence, and submission. In Lebanon, we have to realize the seriousness of the American interference and to be aware of it because the American Administration is the source of chaos that afflicted the Lebanese body, especially, in the latest stages in which it is trying to present it self as a balsam for the internal Lebanese wounds . But actually, we all know that the snake does not hold in itself the antidote, but the deadly poison. Thus, we should be aware not to be "stung" twice in the American hole in the present as well as the coming landmarks.
