The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, released a statement in which he condemned breaking into "the Red Mosque" in Pakistan. He said:

We have seen that the Islamic sacred symbols such as shrines and mosques, are now being violated because of the political complications and the American game that is moving in many places. That is what we witnessed in Iraq and what we are witnessing nowadays in Pakistan as a result of the American instigation and provocation to break into these sacred shrines including "the Red Mosque" and committing massacres. This fact has raised many questions about what the interest behind violating these shrines is. In addition, it appears as if the purpose is to send a message to the entire world that everything inside the Islamic world can be violated as long as it serves the American interests.

We also notice that there is a malicious plan that aims at targeting every Muslim country that possesses a human, scientific or military power. We know that Pakistan, the country that possesses the nuclear bomb and has a scientific vanguard that is the most developed in the Islamic world, is being targeted by the Israeli entity in order to undermine its elements of power through creating complicated situations and instigating internal struggles in a bid to destroy the Pakistani nuclear mind with all what it has produced and is able to produce.

We should be cautious against this American – Israeli scheme while following up the unfolding developments, especially in the dangerous situation in Pakistan. That is because among the main goals of all these tensions and wars that are undermining many of the Arab and Islamic positions, is giving Israel the confidence through eliminating all what it considers a strategic danger to it. And that is what happened in Iraq. And what is being planned against Iran is not far from this, in addition to what is happening nowadays, in Sudan and Somalia as well as in Pakistan.

At a time we do not want to belittle the gravity of the Takfiri parties in its violent means and exclusionary concepts; we have to beware of the American attempt that seeks to spread chaos in our countries. That is because this chaos might lead to an internal strife that prevents the development of these countries and keeps them as a consumer market on all economic, military and scientific levels …etc. That also underscores the far-reaching aims of the NATO-American plan to destroy the Islamic nation, mind and economy …etc.

The biggest reward that the Americans are talking about granting it for this or that country, for their involvement in what the American Administration calls, “the war on terrorism”, is represented by this internal chaos that might open some doors for carefully calculated minor American aids. This is as what we notice in the Tribe Region in Pakistan– but America is also opening on them the doors of Hell through the bloody violence that we witness on all levels. This violence is becoming more aggravated because of the political narrow-mindedness of the leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries in general which make them open up on all their enemies and on all the demands of the American Administration. Those leaders are also looking for opening on Israel at any cost, while ignoring their peoples and the live political movements in their countries, especially the Islamic movements.

We call upon all the concerned parties in Pakistan, to take an initiative in order to return this Islamic country to its normal position in the movement of the struggle against the arrogants and occupiers, through working on protecting its internal unity and containing all the situations that could drive it into the mazes of the bloody chaos that represents a danger not only to Pakistan, but also to the entire region and all Muslims… We also call upon all Muslim scholars and parties in Pakistan to lay stress on the Islamic unity and to work for protecting the Islamic reality from all the Takfiri lines and the extremism mazes.

Having failed in all its means and projects to conduct its "war on terrorism", America should be prevented by all Muslims from instigating strife among them, since it is trying to cover its failure through igniting wars and strives in more than one Arab and Islamic position.
