Eminence said:
We offer our condolences for the death of Ayatollah, Sayyed Murtada
Al-Askari, that was a great loss to Knowledge, academic research,
piety and devoutness. He was a model for intellectual and committed
openness, the scientific precision that is far away from fanaticism,
the noble Islamic morals ...
The departure of Sayyed Al-Askari (may Allah have mercy upon him,)
represents a great loss for knowledge and scholars as well as for
historic researches in our broad Islamic heritage. His departure also
can not be compensated. We ask Allah, the Supreme, the Omnipotent to
encompass him with His grace and put him in His Paradise among the
Prophets, the trustful, and the martyrs, "and a
goodly company are they" (4:69)
