News > Statements&Communiqués > Fadlullah’s Communiqué Regarding the American role in Lebanon and the need to build a strong and just state (14/9/2006 A.D, 21 Sha’ban 1427 H)

The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah saw that the American Administration does not support the project of building a state in Lebanon. And that it is not saying that truth when it claims otherwise.

America wants a state that promotes American interests, and supports one Lebanese party to enable it to gain the upper hand over the others.

His Eminence warned that the American Administration whose ignorance of the Lebanese reality is unprecedented seeks to undermine the project of the state in Lebanon, since its support of one of the internal parties leads to a political clash which might have dangerous consequences.

Although the Lebanese sects and groups have condemned the internal war and decided not to return to it, the American Administration continues to incite the civil war whether through its Ambassador or the other parties it employs, or whether by building on what the divisions by the Israeli aggression had created to encourage certain parties to aggravate the situation, to the extent that some American officials have expressed their astonishment that certain Lebanese parties were not able to exploit the opportunities America had created for them.

Sayyed Fadlullah indicated that what is needed is a minimum level of patriotism that calls for confronting the enemy, and holding him responsible for all his killings and destruction.

This should be followed by talking some confidence building measures to ensure the people who were shocked to see that there are those who are trying since the beginning of the war to rid themselves of their national duty and even to make the pace of reconstruction subjected to the political agenda, that is being conducted by the US, thus fulfilling some of the goals of Israel which was defeated in the war and has been looking for any political achievement in Lebanon to cover its defeat.

We are absolutely certain that the Israeli barbaric war on Lebanon was one of the American preemptive wars that aimed at achieving a breakthrough in the region that promotes the American and Israeli interests. We would also like to emphasize that building the just and capable state in which every body attains his right and performs his national and social duties, can be the easiest way to solve the current problems.

But this could not be done except by taking some confidence building measures, starting by disabling the international powers, especially the Americans and the Israelis, from practicing their influence in Lebanon. No new state can be built except on the basis of confidence that is in turn based on practical steps, in addition to building the Lebanese force and protecting the country, whether by establishing justice or building the national army.
