Fadlullah's statement on the occasion of the first anniversary of the July war

The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, emphasized that one of the ugliest attempts against the Resistance's victory over the enemy in the July war, is the attempts to attribute the victory to a specific sect, since it was a source of inspiration for the entire nation and since the Sunnis had interacted with it more than the Shiites:

H.E. also warned against two threats, the first doubts the Resistance's credibility and its authentic stand against the enemy since it does not confront the "UNIFIL", and the second one tries to present its arms as a threat that drives Israel to attack Lebanon again. He also indicated that the Resistance, not only represents the purist Arab and Islamic image on the level of the courage of its men, but also on the level of their consciousness, planning, and recognizing the enemy and its plans.

Sayyed Fadlullah called on those who are propagating for a coming war, not to mix up between preparing for confronting the enemy's plan on the one hands and making a psychological defeat in some positions on the other hand. He also warned that any new Israeli stupidity, will plunge Israel into the biggest strategic dilemma.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the July war, His Eminence released a statement in which he said:

The American-Israeli plan of the political and security goals of the July war was extremely out of reach to the extent that the Arab officials could laugh joyfully, since their countries and even their thrones were safe due to the defeat of Israel when it clashed with the Resistance's groups that proved to be the most powerful, steadfast and faithful in the entire nation.

Many people now recognize that the July war, did not only target the Lebanese infrastructure or that of the Resistance in Lebanon, but also represented a barbaric offensive on the cultural, intellectual, political and geographical infrastructure of the entire nation. That is because the talk about fragmentation in the region, that was to follow this offensive – had Israel won the war – was not an imaginary talk. Therefore, the Resistance in Lebanon, did not only stop an army at the borders of south Lebanon, but it stopped an invasion of the nation and brought down the goals of a world war in which the European and American efforts as well as many of the Arab efforts were combined together along with Israel in order to break the will of the Resistance and undermine the pride of the nation.

We notice that among the reverse effects of victory over Israel in the July war, is that the victory has frightened many of the Arab positions due to the cowardliness of some positions that lived the submission, or due to the above board complicity with America and the secret complicity with Israel.

Thus, the Prime Minister of the enemy's government can be proud that this crime has established an Arab alliance with Israel and an axis in which the Arab intelligence personalities meet with the leaders of the MOSAD in order to hear from them the plans to undermine the will of the opposition and the resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, and in the rest of the Arab and Islamic positions.

For that reason, we believe that the American Secretary of State, who wanted the war on Lebanon to lead to the birth of a new Middle East, has worked, during the period following the cessation of hostilities, on undermining the victory or besieging it on the Arab level, as well as on containing the Arab world. Thus, we can understand her continuous summoning of the Arab leaders and we can also notice the American movement in Lebanon that aims at preventing the Lebanese from solidifying in an atmosphere of unity, freedom and independence to protect the victory and presents it as a vivid model for the entire nation.

Among the issues that should be taken into consideration regarding the offensive war in July is that the Arab and Islamic peoples were effected only emotionally by the victory of the Resistance, without translating their noble emotion into an integral political action or into a great emotion that unites the nation and creates the Arab and Islamic unity that the nation is in a great need of. On the contrary, we noticed that there is a malicious action that seeks to attribute the victory to a specific sect in order to frighten the other parties. We have also beheld that some national, Islamic and respectful dignitaries that are known by their fidelity and uprightness, have fallen in this trap whether they know it or not… for that reason, I consider that one of the most dangerous attacks that targeted this historic victory is attributing it to a specific sect instead of being a source of inspiration for the entire nation, and after the Sunnis had interacted with it more than the Shiites, and after all the free men in the world have found in it a real basis for beating evil and barbarity in the world.

In these days in particular, I warn against two imminent threats, the first is represented by the attempts that aim at defaming the credibility and the authenticity of the Resistance and its stand against the enemy, in a bid to deprive it from being an Islamic and national resistance since it did not confront the "UNIFIL" forces. The second threat lies in the attempts that aim at presenting the arms of the Resistance as a threat that drives Israel to launch another attack. Thus the Resistance should be disarmed to ensure that Israel will not attack us again… We say to all people that the Resistance in Lebanon, not only represents the purist Arab and Islamic image on the level of the courage of its men, but also on the level of their consciousness, planning, and awareness of the enemy and its plans. Therefore, we want everyone to uphold the Resistance and give it the political, moral and financial support, or at least not to put himself in the position of the opponent whether he knows it or not… We also want those who are frightening the people from a coming war, not to mix up between the preparation for undermining the enemy's plans and between the mess of words and stands that might defeat some positions in the nation in a psychological manner.

We know that the enemy is rebuilding its army and finalizing the plan to regain its "superiority", but we also know that it will fall in the biggest strategic dilemma if it tries to commit a new stupidity. For that reason, we all have to be aware and conscious so as not to be defeated by the propaganda that is broadcasted here and there.
