The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah called upon the Arabs, Muslims and the Lebanese to rush to prevent the barbaric parties from abusing the Islamic reality and to stop those who seek to explode our internal peace, condemning the criminal bombings in Iraq and Lebanon.

His Eminence issued a communiqué regarding the recent developments in Iraq and Lebanon. He said:

"What Iraq is witnessing nowadays represents a moving tragedy whose price is being paid by innocents that are being killed unlawfully. In addition to its devastating effects, this tragedy has begun to extend beyond Iraq reaching the Arab and Islamic worlds. It also represents a negative image of our future."

H.E. added: "This bleeding that is reoccurring everyday in the Iraqi neighborhood, especially the massacres of Al-Shourja trading center and Al-Harj market, must be confronted by a firm stand against the parties that are executing such brutal massacres and not by covering up for the criminal or ignoring the issue as if nothing had happened.

Everyone, especially the Sunni and Shiite Religious Authorities, must condemn this criminality which is based on a barbaric mentality that does not enjoy any deep human and religious sense. What else could be the intention beyond hitting Iraqis who go to the market to buy goods of low prices, knowing that these poor people represent all Iraqi sects, religions and races.

If the one who is committing these barbaric operations seeks to undermine the peace plan for Baghdad, such an action represents the crest of crime, since the poor and innocent Iraqis are being targeted to send a message to occupation. That is because occupation will not cry for the oppressed Iraqis, but it aims at dragging Iraq and the region to the bloody chaos that permits it to instigate strife and stay longer there.

Accordingly, we condemn these moving crimes covered by America. We call on the Arab and Islamic world to voice their condemnation of these crimes that represent another distorted image of the Islamic reality which is the image of violence and terrorism.

In addition, we strongly condemn the two brutal massacres of the Lebanese town of Bikfaya. We also fear that such crimes might be a part of the bloody and barbaric tactics that aim at stirring up chaos in Lebanon like what is happening in other places so that the intelligence circles will benefit from the blood of the innocent, shuffling the cards in a way that enables the American and Zionist arrogance to benefit from in the end.

We call on all the Lebanese to strive for the sake of protecting their security and political reality and to be cautious and careful in assuming their responsibilities in order to prevent all those criminals from affecting negatively the recent positive atmospheres or the commemoration of the assassination of Rafik Hariri. That is because we want this commemoration in all its meanings, to unite the people in confronting all those who try to assassinate Lebanon and the entire Arab world.

We also call upon the Arabs and Muslims to take actions on all levels in order to prevent the barbaric parties from abusing our Islamic reality. Moreover, we call on every citizen to be a guard in order to be able to face all those who want to explode our internal peace through their Hellish plans that is been propagated in the entire Arab and Islamic world.
