The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, released a statement in which he urged all Arab and Muslim people to confront the danger of the major military bases in the region. H.E. said:

What distinguishes the American Administration from most of the western powers is perhaps that it speaks to the world with the language of force, and spreads security tensions accompanied by political threats in words that reveal the arrogance and hegemony that the Bush's Administration represents in a barbaric way that destabilized the security in the entire world and threatened the world peace in an unprecedented manner.

Even, when the American President talks about the western democratic values that he represents, as a representative of the neoconservatives, he shows only threats because he only wants a "democracy" imposed by the American military apparatus that meets the interests of his administration in the world.

Hence, the US, like Israel, only uses the language of killing or talks about security. But the entire world, especially the region, will not be stable except by a wise administration, whereas the American Administration has failed not only on the military level, but also on the political level, and its image is the ugliest and most barbaric one in the view of the Third World, especially in the Arab and Islamic world. Besides, this administration will not benefit either from polishing all the media attempts or from the money that it spends on the means it uses for spreading its propaganda, in addition to the political attempts by which it is trying to deceive our people who now understand well what does America – Bush means and what is his feud against our causes.

America talks openly about staying for a long time in Iraq, in the same manner it adopted in South Korea, while everyone knows that the American occupation of Iraq did not aim only at controlling the security in Iraq, seizing its political decisions, its wealthes and economy, but this occupation was also a part of an American plan to control the entire region for the purpose of subjugating some regimes and toppling others.

Our peoples should be wary of the danger represented by this Administration that did not learn from its last failing rounds. Hence, it is still planning to ignite the region on the security and political levels through various issues starting from the Iranian peaceful nuclear project and reaching Sudan and Somalia, in addition to pressurizing Syria and working continuously on chasing the Resistance's movements in Palestine and Lebanon and using the Security Council that helps it reach its goals with a British– French aid, while other parties implicitly agree.

We fear that the American Administration was and is still thinking about igniting new fires in the region, although it is no longer able to withstand that on the political and security levels. We also fear that the US administration is destroying Lebanon politically and paving the way for some parties to sow tensions and security problems in the country.

There are talks about the American attempts to establish occupation through the major military bases that are said to replace large-scale occupation. There are also talks about joint military bases in more than one country, from Azerbaijan to other countries in the region. Such a step constitutes an increasing threat to all Arab and Islamic countries. The opposition forces as well as the peoples of our region should work on bringing down such projects, like what the Jihadi and popular Resistance did, especially in Lebanon and Palestine, because any military bases in our countries will be another means of controlling our countries and meddling in every single detail of our internal affairs.
