France's Adoption of the American Policy towards
Israel threatens its Role in the Region
The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein
Fadlullah issued a communiqué in which he commented on the latest
stands of French President especially his talk about the sufferings of
the Israelis. Following is the text of the communiqué.
The role that the French president has assumed
which tries to be a satellite of the American foreign policies towards
the region, and which adopts the Israeli point of view vis-à-vis their
conflict with the Palestinian, hurts the major causes of the Arabs and
Muslims, and represents at attempt to distort historical facts and
change the future in a way that serves Israel and international
Zionism.
The Sarkozi Administration that refuses to apologize
to the Algerians for the carnages the French colonialism committed in
their country resembles, to a great extent, the state of Israel which
not only kicked the Palestinians from their land but also continues to
commit daily massacres which have become a daily policy on which all
Israeli officials agree.
Nevertheless, Israel would not have continued this
policy of killings, starving and besieging the Palestinians, as well
as enlarge the settlements had it not been supported by the Western
administrations, especially the US Administration.
The Sarkozi Administration which is trying,
nowadays, to board the train which Tony Blair was in when he was a
prime minister, although it knows that such an attitude runs against
French interests; being a satellite to the down falling Bush
Administration constitutes a great risk that threatens the French role
in the entire Arab and Muslim region, knowing that Sarkozi and his
administration do not represent the real positional of the French
people.
We say to the French president who talks about the
necessity of recognizing the right of the Israelis, who have suffered
for a long time to live in peace... If he is talking about the
sufferings of the Jews; such a suffering was not inflicted by the
Arabs and Muslims who, on the contrary, embraced them in all their
countries, especially on the economic and cultural levels. Their
sufferings were the result of the Western behavior towards them
especially that the Western Christian mentality considered them
responsible for the clarification of Christ which is not acknowledged
by the Muslims. In addition, the Holocaust was initiated by Western
parties in Germany and other countries.
The West, including France, should have made amends
for this horrendous brutality against the Jews by embracing them in
their mother countries in Europe and not in Palestine, whose people
were rooted out of their country with the full support of the Western
countries.
Sarkozi, who presents himself as a champion for the
Israeli cause, especially in the peaceful nuclear Iranian dossier,
should not be more loyal to the American Administration than the
Administration itself. He should not neglect the facts that were
emphasized by the last American intelligence report. He also has to
remember the French role in producing the Israeli nuclear arsenal, and
act in a way that conforms with France's and the world's interests, to
destroy this arsenal that represents a threat to regional and world
peace.
As to the Palestinian state that has become a tool
for political manipulation, as demonstrated by the American and French
discourse… We ask the French president, about the structure of this
state, its borders and its future in view of the Israeli settling
policy that has deprived the Palestinians from any chance of building
a viable state… Instead, we ask the French president to make a unified
practical effort instead of telling the Palestinians some vague
useless words.
At a time we believe that the French administration
will not assume any meaningful role or position in the region, as a
result of choosing to support Israeli interests, we ask the Arabs and
Muslims to shoulder their responsibilities towards the Palestinian
cause, which if it falls will lead to the fall of all the thrones of
the Arab and Muslim officials.
