Ramadan … school to develop our personality spiritually

The Month of Ramadan is the month of the physical and spiritual fasting. We have to consider fasting as a school to develop our personality spiritually and strengthen our freedom and will to defeat all whims, desires and bad habits. For this, we chose the following files that are selected from previous lessons and Friday sermons of his eminence Sayyed Mohamad Hussein Fadlallah that talk about this Holy Month:

p1-  Fasting is a school that develops our humanitarianism and emphasizes our freedom

Allah, the most Exalted, wants man to take a training course in this month to learn how to say “ No”… When he stops taking coffee breakfast...etc. Why does he do that? It is a method to liberate oneself from every habit, to become one that could say “no” to every bad thing and “yes” to every good thing that elevates what is human in man.

p2-  Prophet’s sermon in receiving the month of Ramadan

we would like to recall the Prophet’s sermon that dealt with how to receive this month and how the believers would prepare themselves spiritually and socially to receive it, so as when the month begins, the believer would live Islam in his mind, spirit, and actions. For this month is, as expressed by Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein (a.s), in his supplication welcoming the advent of this month, the month of Islam and purity, the month of Blessing and Giving

p3-  Welcoming the Month of Ramadan:Let Us be more Committed and Merciful

In the rest of the sermon, he is talking about human relations, asking to respect the human side in the other and treat him with mercy. Whether he is a member of your family, a neighbor or an employee, you ought not to be tough on him or hurt his ego by giving him too many tasks. Furthermore, being merciful with the others will be rewarded by Allah.

p4-  The Month of Ramadan is Guidance to Mankind

Allah wants us to think about ourselves, so that each of us will understand himself in a precise and thorough manner. Why does Allah want us to do so? It is because what is inside ourselves may well be involuntary…
