Diversity among men does not devastate the world

Fadlallah: we are working with the devoted and honest people so that Lebanon becomes a forum for dialogue that represents the unity of diversity.

His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah considered that we have to listen to the viewpoint of the other and that dialogue should not be used for scoring points on each other, but rather all the points should be collected for the interest of the crucial causes. He said we work with all the devoted and honest to make Lebanon a forum for dialogue arena that represents the unity of diversity.

H.E. speech came in a break-fast dinner at Judge Sheikh Youssif Amro’s residence. After a recitation of the Holy Koran Sheikh Amro thanked Sayyed Fadlallah for his cultural, social, and religious services in the Jbeil area, while commending the completed charitable projects and the ones under way. Then, poet Madyan Mussawi read a poem celebrating the occasion.

Sayyed Fadlallah addressed the audience with a speech that focused on the meanings of Islamic-Christian dialogue while praising co-existence that was materialized in the Jbeil and Kisrwan areas to preserve national unity, he said: “we are working with the devoted so that Lebanon becomes a forum for dialogue that represents the unity of diversity, just as the body of the human is a unity in which all diverse organs integrate in”.

He added: “we are living unity with diversity in this country where we could differentiate among each other in politics and intellects. However, as long as this stays within the human profundity then it will not destroy the arena. Therefore, we should face these discrepancies by openness to each other because no one possesses the absolute truth.

We should listen to the viewpoints of the other and work not on the basis of scoring points, because we are building a nation where all the points should be united for the interest of the common crucial causes.

The value of dialogue is that it opens the door of understanding each other. I think that some of the problems in our country or the Arab and Islamic worlds are because we do not understand one another and that each of us wants to have everything for himself. This viewpoint is far away from reality and human wisdom.
