Our Stand  Ramadan 05, 1422 November 20,2001

If the United States wants to lead the world then it has to lean on peoples’ liking, because suppression only produces terrorism. The way the U.S. has conducted the war on Afghanistan will fill the world with terrorism against all what is American or perhaps even Western.

H.E. Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah warns the Palestinians from being dragged into internal fights:

A new American plan to assassinate the Intifada over stages

H.E. Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah stressed that the U.S. has never been so close to Israel as it is nowadays. He indicated that the American agenda has a new plan to assassinate the Palestinian Intifada over stages by forcing the Palestinian Authority to quell its people and then sit at the negotiation table on the basis of the Mitchell Report.

H.E. pointed out that the U.S. administration along with Israel is seeking to divert the Palestinian arena by an internal conflict while asserting that what is required from the Palestinians at this stage is not to yield to American pressures or being dragged behind this plan. He also stressed that the fate of the region has become in immense danger.

Since the first moment when the American administration announced it has prepared an integrated initiative to achieve settlement in the Middle East and to establish a Palestinian state, we used to say, “the Americans are lying”, and that the American’s conception of a settlement in Palestine is the Israeli conception itself with a little difference in direction that diplomatic conventions dictates. The U.S. has never been so close to Israel as it is nowadays ,especially after being able to silence all Arab mouths for over a year in the interest of the enemy entity despite all the horrible crimes it perpetrated during this period of the Intifada.

Thus , we were not surprised by Powell’s speech just as we were not with Bush’s at the United Nations, because the U.S. is not only working to melt the Palestinian cause and procrastinate it as well as to enter the Arabs in mazes and details, but it has decided, as it has always did, to be on Israel’s side and directly. It decided not to give a hoot for all the Palestinian and Arab sentiments, so the U.S. arrogantly described the Intifada as terrorism. The U.S. has put on top of its priorities the issue of ending the Palestinian Intifada by whatever means even if this leads to an internal Palestinian civil war. Therefore it fully adopted the Israeli position concerning “ending violence”, because the priority for the U.S. is the security of Israel without paying attention to Arab rulers and their questions .

The U.S. administration, which has begun to disengage itself from the promises it has announced two months ago, got to act as if it were anticipating a new victory against a man that it had made a legend out of. Therefore it wants the Arabs and Muslims to “once again” pay the price of this defeat that the U.S. wants it to be comprehensive. Therefore, we have to expect as of now that those words, which positively talk about Islam, to disappear from the American official rhetoric, and that American officials will return to their old dictionary of threats that Arab and Islamic regimes fear and work according to American recommendations to avoid what they consider even worse.

What lurks in the American quiver is a new plan to assassinate the Palestinian Intifada over stages by forcing the Palestinian authority to quell its people and then sit at the negotiation table with the enemy to reach a cease-fire that adopts the Mitchell Committee decisions. By this a white page of Palestinian struggle (represented by a year and two months of the Intifada) is turned and a new stage of internal Palestinian conflict that the U.S. administration is planning for in cooperation with Sharon to take Israel out of the bottle neck and the political, security, and economic impasse that the Palestinian Intifada has put in.

The least required from the Palestinians at this stage is not to yield to American pressures, and not to be dragged into internal fights and disturbances at any cost. As for the required from the Arabs and the Muslims is to come out of the cocoon of horrendous silence and to raise their voices against this impudent American boasting that has stepped beyond all limits and before the new stage of American aggression arrive to the region after it ends in Afghanistan. Because if the U.S. remained at ease before all this continuous terrifying Arab silence, then it will unleash new aggressive initiatives instead of the expected political initiatives. There, not a single Arab and Islamic position will be safe, because the sparks of such an aggression will extend to new positions and will surpass, with its dimensions, all the expectations. Therefore, the question is whether we unite as a nation or let America be. There is no time to wait, the fate of the region has become in the circle of a great danger.
