The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Rabi’ I, 1444H. Following is the text of the statement:

The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Rabi’I will be born on Sunday, September 25, 2022 2, at: 21:54 (GMT); that is on Monday, September 26 at 00:54, Beirut time.

In addition, on Monday night the crescent can be seen easily by the naked eye in most of South America. In addition, it could be seen by the naked eye if the weather is clear and the viewer is experienced in some parts of South and North America. It could also be seen by the armed eyes in the northern part of Africa and some regions of Europe and Asia. Therefore, Tuesday is the first day of the month of Rabi’I, according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra), who deems it enough to sight the crescent, whether by the naked eye or by the aid of telescopes, in any region that shares a part of the night with the regions of sighting. In addition to the fact that the previous month (Safar) would have completed 30 days.

We ask Allah, The Most Exalted, to grant us success to do what is good and relief the nation and us from our hardships. He is the Most Merciful.
