Saturday is the first day of Rajab

The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Rajab, 1442H. Following is the text of the statement:

The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Rajab, 1442H will be born on Thursday February 11, 2021 at 19:06 (GMT) that is 21:06, Beirut time.

As noticed in the picture above: on Thursday evening sighting is impossible in all the world except in certain regions we do not share a part of the night with. Therefore, Friday the 12th of February 2021 is the day that completes JamadaII. Hence, the first day of Rajab is on Saturday 13th of February.

As for the sighting on Friday evening, the crescent can be sighted easily by the naked eye in the regions colored green (most regions of North and South America and North Western Africa), or provided the weather is clear in the regions colored pink, which are most of the regions of Africa, and with the armed eye in the regions colored navy blue as in Australia and other regions. Therefore, in addition to the completion of the month of JamadaII , and since the sighting is possible Friday night, Saturday the 13th of February is the first day of Rajab , according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra) who deems it enough to sight the crescent, whether by the naked eye or by the aid of telescopes, in any region with which we share a part of the night. There is no difference in this case between the eastern and western regions

We invoke Allah, the Most Exalted, to bless for us the month of Rajab and make us reach the blessed month of Ramadan in good heath, and guide us in this month to worship Him and perform good deeds and fulfil our needs and support our nation to achieve victory over its enemies. He is the Most Hearing and the Most Merciful.
