Rules governing slaughtered animals and
meat selling accommodation
ِIs
it lawfully permitted to work in meat canning factories (dealing with
pork or meat from animals that were not duly slaughtered), whether
this work was in the canning itself or was only related to cleaning
such as washing the place, the machines... etc?
ٌIt
is unlawful to work in canning such meat in principle. However, this
work becomes permissible if the preparation of this meat is destined
to be sold to non- Muslims who consider it lawful. Still, the
abstention from this work as a precaution should not be abandoned. As
for the work that is mainly about cleaning machines; it is permissible
in all cases.
ِIs
the presence of the expression “slaughtered in the lawful way in
accordance with Islamic law” considered enough when buying red and
white meat known to be imported from non Islamic countries?
This expression is never satisfactory if
one was not certain of the lawfulness of this meat.
ِAm
I allowed to buy slaughtered animals from a market the majority of
which is Muslim while the minority is from the People of the Book
without any examination or investigation?
A
Muslims’ market is most likely an indication of the lawfulness of the
meat even if it the country embraces a minority of non- Muslims.
