Solidarity and Compassion in Islam

The First Sermon
In the Name of God,
the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Messenger of Conveyance and legislation
In the context of talking about the Messenger (p.). Allah says in
His Glorious Book:
And most surely you
conform (yourself) to sublime morality.
And
Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exemplar
for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah
much.
What the personality of the Messenger is distinguished with is
that he was a Messenger in conveying the Messenger and a Messenger in
all his deeds and actions that reflected the morals and legislations
of Islam. He was an embodiment of Islam, and people could see the
Ayat he recited to them embodied in his personality, since there was
no separation between his Message and his personality.
Thus, the commitment to the Messenger and bearing witness he is a
Messenger in our prayers suggest to us, Muslims, that we should live
the Messenger in our hearts and minds in all our actions, whether on
the personal or economic levels… etc.
The members of House (Ahl el-Beit) represented the bright image of
the line of the Messenger. Ali (a.s.) was identified with the
Messenger that is why Allah commanded us to follow Ali as an Imam and
a successor to the Messenger had nothing to do with the Messenger's
emotions. It was because he saw in Ali (a.s.) the man that embodied
him. This is evident in most of the sayings in which the Messenger
described Ali.
He says: "Ali is with the right and the right is with Ali; it
turns with him wherever he turns". He also said: I am the city of
knowledge and Ali is its door. The Imam says: The Messenger of Allah
has taught me 1000 branches of knowledge from each 1000 branched were
opened to me.
The Imams who followed continued the march of Islam that the
Messenger lunched saying that their sayings and actions were that of
the Messenger.
In this speech, we will go over some of what they said quoting our
master, Muhammad, regarding the relations among Muslims, and
consequently how a Muslim society should be in its solidarity and
mercifulness.
Muslims' Rights
Imam As-Sadiq says that of the most severe things that Allah has
ordained on His creations are three things – that man can not acquire
except by education and internal struggle – to be fair with people in
that not accepting for them except what one accepts for himself and
helping brothers with money- if he is rich and his brothers need his
help- and remembering Allah in all circumstances, not by saying :subhana
Allah… only– It is to remember Allah, when he finds himself tempting
to do something unlawful, like profiting from unlawful acts. There
are those who seek to gain profits by selling wine or frozen meat
that is not slaughtered according to the Islamic Shariah because it
is cheap. I have previously ruled- let those who are present inform
the absent – that it is not permissible to buy from a butcher who
sells frozen meat beside lawful meat. It is even unlawful to buy
lawful meat from him. Muslim restaurants who sell wine and unlawful
meat – but when he leaves what Allah has prohibited.
In another saying Imam As-Sadiq states the Muslim's rights towards
fellow Muslims, He says that they are in addition to loving him, and
giving him money in need and attending to his family's errands when
he is absent and supporting him against those who wrong him. "To
visit his grave after he dies, not to wrong him", or not to believe
him or even to express any discontent to anything he says… If he says
to him: You are my enemy the one of them has disbelieved, since Allah
says that believers are brothers, and this will be violating Allah's
saying. And if he accuses him falsely, faith will dissolve in his
heart like salt in water.
Muhammad Ibn Ajlan narrated that once when he was with Imam Sadiq
(a.s) a man came in and greeted them. Imam Sadiq (a.s) asked him:
"How are the believing brothers with whom you were?" He praised them.
Imam Sadiq (a.s) asked: "How much do the rich attend to the poor?" He
said: "Little." Imam Sadiq (a.s.) asked: "How often do the rich visit
the poor?" He said: "Not often." The Imam (a.s.) asked: "How much do
the rich help the poor?" He said: "You are talking about such
behavior that is rare among us." Then Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: how do
you claim that they are Shiites?
Abu Ismail said: I once told the Imam that the Shiites in our
(region) are many, but he asked me: Do the rich have sympathy on the
poor and do charitable forgive the wrongdoers. I said no and he said:
Those are not Shiites. The Shiites are the ones who do that.
The Imam says: The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim: He does
not betray him, cheat him, oppress him…-Muslims should seek to
sympathize and respond to the needs of the needy and help one
another, so that they will be as Allah commanded:
Muhammad is the
messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against
Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other.
Fear Allah, and be brothers, loving each other for the sake of Allah
helping each other, and showing mercy to each others, meet…, consider
our matter and live it up.
He also says: "Of the deeds Allah loves the most is to feed the
hunger of a Muslim, to help him in his misery and to pay his dept.
These are the morals of Islam; those of the Prophet and his
family. We have to follow them, so that we meet Allah, on the line of
his love and Mercy and piety in all our social positions.
The Second Sermon
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The American Policies in the region
There are three main lines the American policy
adopts towards the Palestinian cause and the region:
The fist line: The unequivocal adoption of the
Israeli usurping entity in all its aggressions against the
Palestinian people, whether the political, security and economic
siege or the invasions, assassinations and the massacres. That is why
the US Secretary of State's positions are clear in that she does not
want to exert any pressures on Israel but only to stall giving the
Palestinians in the meantime some tranquillisers, like lifting some
sand barriers and not military ones and reducing the checkpoints. In
the meantime, the Israeli settlement project continues to expand in
Jerusalem and the West Bank to deprive the proposed Palestinian state
form any possibility of being viable.
The second line: To continue pressurizing to
prevent any Palestinian unity, by means of various threats; if a
positive result is reached. This led to the failure of the Yemen
initiative to establish a political reconciliation between Fateh and
Hamas.
The third line: To hit any Arab or Muslim
convergence on the basis of taking decisions that are in the
interests of the Arab and Muslim peoples. That is what we saw in the
American Vice-president's and the Secretary of State's visits to some
of the so-called "moderate Arab countries", especially regarding the
level of representation in the Arab summit that came in one of the
most dangerous moments that our region has passed through.
In this context, the Arab states are in a state of
paralysis towards the Israeli aggressions. The “moderate “Arab states
especially the states that concluded an official peace treaty or
those who concluded secret economic agreements, dare not punish
Israel politically or economically, at least to make this usurping
state feel that its aggressions will lead to the loss of some of its
interests.
This is what we notice in the repetition of the
leaders in the Arab league the words "peace" or the decisions of the
Beirut Summit" or in their shy support of the Palestinians.
The Arab World: The illusion of solidarity
As for the Arab solidarity, which was the title of
the Arab summit in Damascus, it will remain a slogan, as long as it
is not based on a national or brotherhood foundations, and as long as
it is not established on consistent and clear cut mechanisms that
will protect the Arab reality from personal, regional and
international effects.
We hope that the project of Arab solidarity will
be successful, but we believe that the Arab world has lost its
national reality, and turned into fragmented pieces, which the
players play with, and whose resolutions are dead before they are
born.
Iraq, meanwhile, remains the bleeding wound that
suffers from the occupation’s efforts to create security political
and economic chaos, its partition scheme and its usurpation of
national wealth, especially the oil, as part of its strategy to put
its hand on oil in any country of the Third World, since this is what
enables it to pressurize Europe, Russia, China and Japan to carry out
the American political and economic policies.
A Racial war against Islam
Islam in the West is facing a racial war, through
distorting its image and violating its sacred symbols. It is
noteworthy that the foreign ministers of the EU states have denounced
the film produced a rightist Dutch MP, since it equates between
violence and Islam, but they considered that he has a right to
produce it since it is in their view an expression of the freedom of
speech.
But they did not, neither did others, try to pass
a resolution that opposes being hostile to Islam or other religions.
They do not respect the Muslims, or even the Christians, and their
belief in the freedom of speech has become an arbitrary one that is
subjected to political calculations, and not democratic values and
human rights.
We believe that the Muslims in the West should
make all efforts to defend Islam and introduce its moral, spiritual
and humanitarian values, and open up on the Islamic civilized
principles in their call all over the world, and expose all the
schemes that wish to distort Islamic concepts.
The economic crisis in Lebanon
In Lebanon, the politicians have turned a deaf ear
to the sufferings and hunger of the poor whose salaries are not
enough to provide them with the basics of food, clothing, not to
mention education and health care. The Lebanese have become hungry in
the country of fertility; thirsty in the country of water, and naked
in the country of the natural silk, and we are afraid to say that
they have become illiterate in the country of printing machines and
science.
We know that the economic problem is complicated
and intricate, nevertheless, we still believe that there is a
deficiency in treating it, since the political class that the
Lebanese are unfortunately addicted to, is still producing the same
faces and the same mentality that do not believe in the strength,
potentials and aspirations of the people. That is why they did not
allow the people to produce a political class that responds to its
aspirations and that is above personal greed, and fanatical
sectarianism; one that seeks unity for the sake of the entire people
and a better future for the coming generations.
Dear Lebanese
The value of Lebanon is represented by the value
of its human being. Do not allow all those who are killing its values
for the sake of their demonisation. Lebanon is rich in the diversity.
Do not vote for those who are killing it with their fanaticism.
Lebanon's strength is stable. Do not pay attention to all who want it
to be weak. Lebanon has always been generous towards the issues of
its nation. Do not support those who want to dissociate it from the
issues of its nation… It is you who decide the image of your country.
