In the era of Prophet Musa, his people used to suffer from two persons. The first is Pharaoh who turned them into slaves, which made the Prophet include in his demand to take the children of Israel with him freeing them of their slavery and all the practices of Pharaoh who used to kill their children and enslave their women.

This is demonstrated by what Musa said to Pharaoh when they started thief long debate. And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel.

And we know how Allah sent Musa to Pharaoh to ask him to believe in God, while Pharaoh claimed that he himself was God, encouraged by his rule over the whole of Egypt. But Pharaoh's end was that Allah drowned him in the sea, having gathered his army to chase Musa, But Allah enabled Musa to cross the sea, while he gave the body of Pharaoh to his people to learn a lesson and to know that he is no god. "This day, shall we save thee in the body".

Another personality of Musa's people is that of Karoon, the very rich man who exploited the poor and the downtrodden. He used to show off and act arrogantly. But some of the people whom he wronged were wise; they were not influenced by his wealth, nor did they see it as a privilege. Rather they believed that he exploited this wealth to boost his position and act in arrogant manner, like most of those who have enormous wealth, whether individuals groups or states.

Such people were afraid of the calls of the prophets, since it might encourage the downtrodden to rebel against them. The Quran who considered these as self indulgent have mentioned this attitude in several ayahs. It quotes them as saying: we do not see any have followed you but those who are the meanest of us. This is the mentality which governs the major powers who have huge wealthes that they had usurped from the Third world during the colonial period. The luxury the West enjoys now is a result of depending on the wealth of the downtrodden.

This is also what we noticed in the meeting of the G8, the states that own the war factories and all the consumer and production materials.

Those are the Karoons of our age. Karoon whom the Quran talked about is not an ordinary man. He is a model of arrogant people, whom we might find people like in our Muslim community, who get rich as a result of exploiting workers peasants and the people who have certain needs or rights.

Let us read what Allah says about this personality. Surely Qaroun was of the people of Musa, but he acted insolently towards them- he was able to make a fortune by exploiting his people.

And We had given him of the treasures, so much so that his hoards of wealth would certainly weigh down a company of men possessed of great strength. When his people said to him – who did not fall under his influence and who were wise and wanted to advise him : Do not exult, surely Allah does not love the exultant; _ Do not be arrogant , for Allah wants us to use our wealth in doing good.

And seek by means of what Allah has given you the future abode- there is an end for all this ; a day when you will be held accountable and do not neglect your portion of this world – you are a man who has certain needs which Allah wants you to attain , but by lawful means - and do good (to others) as Allah has done good to you- Allah has given you the chance to make all that money , and you have to return this favor by being good to the people . Your physical, mental and materialistic potential are but Allah’s trust which you should use in helping His servants.

Forbidding Evil:

Thus, just as man should use these potentials to promote his personal interests, he should use it to reduce the pains of others and help them reach a higher level: and do not seek to make mischief in the land, surely Allah does not love the mischief-makers. Do not use your money in harming others and trade in prohibited goods. As some do in the South Suburb, when they sell wine and drugs or other goods that create ethical and social corruption.

Then there are those whom I always warn from; who import frozen meat and sell it as fresh and lawful. Those people you are not allowed, from the religious point of view, to buy from them because they are selling the meat of dead animals.

I say to all my brothers and sisters. Any restaurant that offers wine should by boycotted, and any shop that sells frozen meat is prohibited to buy from him.

Any butcher who sells meat that Allah's name was not mentioned when the animals were slaughtered; you should boycott him.

Boycott also all what has to do with political corruption such as buying your votes or your conscience or any attempts to fall under the influence of the rich who are used by the foreigners in order to dominate people.

What was Karoon’s reaction to all that. He said: I have been given this only on account of the knowledge I have. I am clever and know how to make money. But is this money going to last forever? Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of the generations of those who were mightier in strength than he and greater in assemblage? And the guilty shall not be asked about their faults.

So he went forth to his people in his finery – to impress the people. Those who desire this world's life said: O would that we had the like of what Qaroun is given; most surely he is possessed of mighty good fortune.

And those who were given the knowledge said: Woe to you! Allah's reward is better for him who believes and does good. Money perishes, and none is made to receive this except the patient. Who tolerates deprivation and hardship, and do not fall but continue to obey Allah

Thus We made the earth to swallow up him and his abode; so he had no body of helpers to assist him against Allah nor was he of those who can defend themselves. And those who wished to be like him realized how mistaken they were and that it is Allah’s satisfaction that counts.

These are supplies we ought to provide ourselves with and this is what we should compete in.

In Palestine, it does not seem that there is a realistic solution for the sharp division demonstrated by the two governments that do not recognize one another, especially with the Arab and international stand against the national unity government led by Hamas and the welcoming of the emergency government that was planned by the US, encouraged by Israel and facilitated by several Arab states, especially those in the Arab Quartet Committee. All those who wanted a Palestinian government that unconditionally recognizes Israel and even without defining its borders or agree to remove the settlements and the racial wall, and does not accept that Jerusalem is an Arab city, did not want Hamas in the government.

The Arabs, Americans and Israelis wanted the Palestinians to recognize the Jewish state as a de facto reality that the Palestinian should yield to and respect. This means that the Palestinians should surrender and accept all Israeli conditions and demands, especially that the Arabs are running after Israel to convince it of the Arabs initiative it refused right from the beginning. Such an attitude encourages Israel to look down on the Arabs, since it is stronger than the Arabs and since America that controls most Arab officials, supports the Zionist Entity and prevents any condemnation of it by the Security Council.

It also pushes the Arab "moderate" countries to establish economic relations with Israel that would lead to diplomatic ones.

If America has talked about a Palestinian state, in addition to the Israeli one, it nevertheless, did not move any step forward to establish it. On the contrary, it erected security barriers to hinder it, by considering the Palestinian groups that defend liberation and independence to be terrorist organizations, and by demanding that the Palestinians should stop their resistance without asking Israel to stop its destroying of the Palestinian infrastructure.

America also pressurized the International Quartet Committee to adopt Israeli conditions which led to the freezing of the negotiations and turning the Palestinian state into an unfertile project that has no realistic chances of succeeding.

Thus, we noticed that the West and most of the Arabs besieged the democratically elected Hamas government.

Then they besieged the national unity government, which Hamas joined on the basis of the Makka's agreement that was not positively viewed by the Americans and the Israelis. Because they want the division to intensify and become more bloody with one brother killing another, leading to political and security anarchy and implementing a vicious scheme that some of the Palestinian officials who are associated with the Americans and Israelis have taken part in it to create the atmosphere and the events that led to the dismissing of the national government and replacing it by an emergency government. Then the economic sanctions on the emergency government were lifted, while Hamas was isolated and accused of committing crimes against the people.

This American, European, Arab and Israeli support for the new government and the head of the authority arouses a lot of suspicion about the motives and the goals of these developments.

The resolutions of the Arab League do not, in our view, resolve the problem. And the Israelis will be left to take advantage of the division, intensify their besiege of Gaza and destabilize the security in the West Bank that might lead to another complicated strife that might be not be as big as the one in Gaza though it will be close to it.

We also do not know what happened in the Bush – Olmert meeting and the plan they are making to complete the execution of the Israeli expansion plans, that aim at freezing the project of the Palestinian state, for America would not pressurize Israel to promote the interests of the Palestinians. Its only concern is the interests of the Jewish people.

The Palestinian people should not be deceived by an emergency government and a state of emergency that is dictated by the American and the Israelis, for they will not achieve anything.

Instead, they have to search for the faithful leaders that could save them from all the catastrophes they are living.

We have to look for a new experiment that is not linked with the international and Israeli conditions, and that is not governed by partisanship. The Resistance ought to stay and unite its organizations in confronting the enemy.

The American Middle Eastern policies have proved their failure one after the other: Washington has put into practice in the last few years its worst regional polices. And as a result, it is living a big crisis, with the deteriorating situation in the Middle East beginning to have an impact on the American internal politics.

In the meantime, America continues to pressurize Iran over its peaceful nuclear project. It also makes sure that the Lebanese crisis continues to mark time or even becomes more complicated, whether through the visits of its envoys, or the movements of its ambassador who creates several problems through his visits to the Pro-American Lebanese politicians. A case in point is also the talk of some officials in the Turkish intelligence agencies who said that Washington asked the military to stage a military coup during the period of preparing to the presidential elections. Despite all this, America continues to talk about democracy in the region, which it only pressures in as much as it promotes its interests and expands its imperial influence.

In Iraq, the American occupation is arming some of the tribes, to further destabilize the country by creating militias that will lead to an armed strife between the sects. In addition, the British and American occupation forces continue to lunch offensives in the South that lead to the killing of civilians, especially women children and the elderly.

We renew our call for a liberation movement to oust the occupier, especially that we hear from some of the occupation leaders that the American Army plans to stay for at least ten years, which would hinder any movement towards progress, development and freedom of the Iraqi people who should seek to promote national and Islamic unity.

America Thwarts Arab Efforts:

In Lebanon, there are those who are waiting for the results of the Arab imitative to establish a national unity government but we believe that the chances of this initiative are not going to be better than the ones before it. The US wants to keep Lebanon in mayhem. It does not want Lebanon to enjoy political stability for it feels that this will achieve a political victory for the Resistance to be added to its military victory. It wants Lebanon to remain in a state of chaos to execute its political project, which consists of pressuring more than one location in the region.

The problem of Lebanon is that those in power as well as in the political realm do not think of the stability of the Lebanese economy, politics and security. They only think about gaining more power and money. They do not mind keeping the people hungry; for they want to preoccupy it with the various crises and incite sectarianism among the Lebanese at a time the country is suffering from security instability in many places.

Some are trying to mark time until we arrive at the presidential elections, where we will face constitutional vacuum, or two governments, which would be a catastrophe.

The Lebanese should face their problems in a realistic manner, to save their future which they are trying to destroy and turn into ashes.
