The First Sermon
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When Allah created man, He commanded him to "be free" whether in his
mind and ideas, his heart and emotions, or his choices and stands.
But when you practice this freedom, you have to uphold the
responsibility of this freedom, for God will ask you about why you
made this choice or that or why you had this feeling or that.
God created man free and made him his vice on earth to emphasize his
role in building the earth in accordance to his live. Thus, Allah
wanted man to assume his role on the basis of the free, rational and
responsible will.
Elements of human freedom
Human freedom is sustained by several elements. One of which is that
man should not be driven by his greed of what others have, whether
in their money, their position or the lusts they can provide you.
Man will remain a slave as long as he is driven by greed. And he
will remain free as long as he is content. Content strengthens your
freedom and gives you the strength that makes you resist the
temptation to acquire what others have. Allah loves not man who has
been given the potential of being strong to weaken himself in
pursuit of confront.
Submission to the oppressor
The Holy Quran tells us about those who die, having living their
lives in submission of the arrogant and the unjust.
God says to those: "Lo! As for those whom the angels take (in death)
while the wrong themselves, (the angels) will ask: In what were ye
engaged? They will say: We were oppressed in the land (The angels)
will say: Was not Allah’s earth spacious that ye could have migrated
therein context situation." (Quran IV, 97)
You should leave the place where weakness is imposed on you to
another you can be strong in, so that you will be able to retrieve
your strength and freedom, a place where you could associate with
truth and justice. A place where you could say no to those who want
to force you to say yes and where you can say yes to those who want
you to say no.
Your position should spring from your free world, you have to say
yes or no not because there are those who are forcing you to say
this or that, but because your principles and freedom compel you to
do so.
To be liberated from greed Imam Ali (a.s.), the Imam of freedom
says: Don't let greed enslave you, while God has made you free. The
more pious and religious you become, the freer you get, for you will
resist your instincts and become a slave for them. Those who commit
sins are not free; they cannot resist them. Imam Ali's problem in
all his movements and activity was that he wants to save the people
from all those who enslave them and from their instinctual desires.
He says: Do not be a slave of others, while God has made you free.
Rejecting desires
In other narration, Imam Ali (a.s.) is reported to have said: A free
man remains free even when he is hurt, while a slave remains a
slave, even if fate helps him.
He also said: "A free man leaves worldly affairs to its people, for
there is no price for your souls except Heaven. Do not sell them for
anything else".
In the same context, Jesus Christ (p.) says: "What good does it do
if one sells himself in exchange for everything in this world, and
than left them to be inherited by others. But blessed is he who
saves himself. Those who sell themselves to the biggest bidder
despise themselves and the entire humanity neither.
The next saying by Imam As-Sadiq (a.s.) lets us understand that
freedom is not something that is alien, but an integrated part of
Islam. He says: "A free man is free in all situations whether he is
in an open land or in a prison cell, because freedom originates from
his inner self. If a tragedy hits him he would tolerate it, and if
he is imprisoned or oppressed, like prophet Yusuf, he would still
remain free even if he is enslaved or tempted by Pharaoh’s wife.
In sum, freedom is an issue of strong will power, pride, and
enhancing one's strength especially as we face in this world several
arrogant powers along with their agents who want to enslave us. We
have to be free through our humanity and our worshipping of Allah,
who is our only God and lord, and the one Who freed us from all who
want to enslave us.
The Second Sermon
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
America interference in the Lebanese War
The thirtieth anniversary of the Lebanese war has passed… It is the
war that the Lebanese of all sects constituted the fuel… The war
that the Americans ignited to liquid the Palestinians cause and take
out its resistance from Lebanon, by exploiting all kinds of internal
fanaticism and even in the same sect or confession. Moreover, the
Arab World was inciting several problems in Lebanon to wage its war
against certain countries.
When the American objective was realized, the Ta'if agreement was
initiated as a result of an American plan executed by Arab hands and
net by Lebanese submission. The War ended but national
reconciliation did not take place. Anyway, Lebanon was able to
withstand all pressures and invasions including that of 1982, and
the Resistance began representing the first Arab-Islamic vanguard to
defeat Israel.
Then the Americans began to incite troubles in Lebanon, and they
were met with a European and especially French interests to remove
the source of strength Lebanon possesses. America aims at creating a
state of chaos that will later be spread in the entire regions, all
under the pretext of democracy and freedom.
These are true words that have falsehood aims, for the American
Administration used cultural and political hypocrisy, especially
when the American President talks about the security of the free
world, when he only presents to the world wars and destruction.
Where is the freedom of the Palestinians?
Thus the American President talks about "Waves of freedom that cove
the large Middle East" from Afghanistan to Palestine and Lebanon".
He added that the success of democracy in Iraq has sent a message to
Tehran and Beirut stating that "freedom can be the future of every
state".
The question is: "What freedom is he talking about in Palestine
while he supports settling in the West Bank, and calls for annexing
them to Israel?"
He also prevents the refugees from returning to their country.
Moreover, when he talks about a difference with Sharon on enlarging
the settlements, he does not pressurize him. He only gives the
Palestinians and some of the Arab leaders some words, while he gives
the Israelis financial and political supports.
The American Administration, with its Neocons and Zionists, despises
the Arab and Muslim world, and tries to end all their major and
vital issues to serve Israel.
It is interesting that this American support had made the enemy's
foreign Minister talk about a Road Map for the Arab Israeli
struggle, to secure the Arab recognition, despite the fact that
Israel refuses to recognize the Palestinian people.
The Americans in Iraq
If we go back to Iraq that has got out of elections to compose
its controversial government with its sectarian and racial
consideration, we notice that America sent its defense secretary to
impose his terms on the Iraqis He warned the Iraqi government from
any purging even for the corrupt elements the security services and
the army. When he left, he was followed by another envoy, because
the Americans want to keep the Iraqis under American instructions to
ensure that American political, security and economic interests are
served and to incite several problems in Iraqi nation with its
neighboring.
Saving Lebanon
The American Administration continues to implement its plan in
Lebanon to corrupt the country. It wants to keep the political
parties in Lebanon to stay away of political objectivity and engage
in direct dialogue in this very stage and not wait until the coming
stages. We remind those who are waiting for a more suitable stage
that they were responsible in the past for all the corruption, and
for employing unqualified supporters, that led to the hegemony of
the security agencies on the positions of power both inside and
outside the country. And we warn them, at the same time, not to believe in those who
corrupted the country.
As Lebanon enters what could be described as political vacuum that
is accompanied by economic hardship and financial bankruptcy, we
believe that everyone must take responsibility for saving the
country by overcoming all obstacles and setting up a reform program.
Flying the Lebanese flag or chanting for national unity is not
enough… We need a loyalty for the future of Lebanon by those who
carry spiritual and moral values, so that Lebanon will remain for
the Lebanese, and not a passage or a base for colonialism…
