The First Sermon
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the
Merciful
Opening upon the Right, Good and Justice
Allah, the Most Exalted, says in His Glorious
Book: And surely this your religion is
one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty)
to Me.
Lo! This, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so
worship Me.
He says that all Messages and all Messengers are
one, even if their rank or degrees varies. The content of these
messages is to worship Allah alone and open up on right good and
justice And hold fast by the covenant of
Allah all together and be not disunited.
The nation which believes in the Message should
be a nation that calls for the good, whether on the personal level,
that of the family or that of the society at large. A believer should
not harbour any evil whether in his intentions towards others, or in
his saying and actions.
God wants this nation to monitor all its affairs
at all levels. Its leadership and intellectual elites should study the
movement of the nation, recording any prospects of strife and calling
for unity, they should plan to establish justice and call people to
abide by it, concentrating on the right and calling people to defend
it in the face of falsehood. They should call for peace and not war,
humanity and not barbarism. They should call for a unity in which
people are bounded by spiritual and humanitarian brotherhood. Since
the people believe in God, they should meet on Him and be unified in
Him. And since they believe in the Messenger (p.) they should abide by
it and follow his traditions.
That is why; we find that Allah, The Most
Exalted, wants from every Muslim to enhance the unity of the nation:
And hold fast by the rope of Allah all
together and be not disunited. This rope is the Quran,
which will unite you in the brotherhood of obeying it. You should hold
fast to this infallible Book that falsehood cannot even draw near it,
and that no one, not even the Prophet can add to it or delete anything
from it, being infallible and being the book which takes people from
darkness to light.
This holding fast should be strengthened by your
unity which the book itself, being the symbol of believing in Allah
and His Messenger is its base. You might differ in your tribes,
nationalities, geographical locations… but you meet on your belief in
Allah, The Most Exalted, and His Messenger (p.), and you hold fast to
His rope. Therefore, you are not free to turn your differences into a
basis for division on what Allah has united you on. He wanted the
Muslims to be brothers. You might not be blood brothers, but you are
brothers in being the children and servants of Allah. Allah, The Most
Exalted, has joined us and what Allah joins nothing can separate for
He is greater and higher than anything.
Humanitarian Brotherhood:
Allah wanted the Muslim to feel this brotherhood
of belief in their actual life. The Believers
are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between
your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive
Mercy. He even talks about the differences between two groups
of Muslims calling for making peace between them. He wanted the
Muslims to live their unity in their movement in life and in their
emotions by living the sufferings of fellow Muslims.
No Muslim in any place on earth should be
indifferent towards the sufferings and challenges of Muslims in a
faraway country. This is what the Messenger (p.) has asserted-saying
that anyone who does care about the affairs of Muslims is not a
Muslim; One, who gets up in the morning and is not concerned about
the affairs of other Muslims, is NOT a Muslim, although he might
pray fast and perform other religious duties.
And if one of the two Muslim groups that quarrel
is with the right, you cannot feel indifferent and not support it.
That is why the Quran says: And if two
parties of the believers quarrel, make peace between them; but if
one of them acts wrongfully towards the other, fight that which acts
wrongfully until it returns to Allah's command. The Messenger
(p.) says: One who listens to the call of a Muslim, and
does not respond to it, is NOT a Muslim.
Islam is to feel that you are a part of the
Muslim body, represented by the Muslim nation.
Living the spirit of Islam:
There are several sayings that reaffirm this meaning. The
Messenger (p.) says: believers are like a living body; if
any member complains, all
others will share and relieve his pain.
He also said that the most pious of Muslims is
the one who provides good advice to Muslims and the one whose heart is
full of the love of Muslims. Imam As-Sadiq (a.s.) in one of his
sayings considers advice to be the good that "you will not meet God
with any better deed". To be a Muslim you should live the spirit
of Islam embodied in the feeling of brotherhood and responsibility
towards fellow Muslims.
This is what our Imam, the Commander of the Faithful, did when
they denied him his right of being a caliph the right that the Prophet
assorted. Did not he say: I would hold up my peace, as long as the
affairs of Muslims are secured and the only injustice has befallen on
me?
What is important to me in the safety and well
being of Muslims and Islam? What happens to me is not important even
if it includes injustice. Do we have anyone like him? How could we not
love and honour one whose spirit extends to all Muslims? We cannot but
bow for him and consider him our role model.
Islam wants us to be active in the Islamic realm
and in the human realm as well. It wants us to be pure good and
beneficial, with each of us making his fellow human beings happy. The
Messenger (p.) says: All creatures are Allah’s family (dependents)
and those are dearest to Allah who treat His family men with
kindness.. He was asked: "Whom does Allah love most", and
he answered "The most beneficial to others". He also promised
heaven to anyone who saves the Muslims from a fire or a flood of
water. Imam As-Sadiq says in the context of explaining God's
description of Christ as being blessed, he says blessed means
beneficial.
This is the sprit of Islam, the sprit of unity,
justice and calling for good, so that each one of us will be the man
of right, good and justice.
The Second Sermon
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the
Merciful
The security plan aims at ending the Resistance
The American Administration has recently
presented a security plan to Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It
details the measures the two parties should implement in a given
timetable, which include the removing of roadblocks and establishing,
not later than 1 July 2007, a bus convoy service operating 5 times a
week to facilitate the movement of passengers and goods from the West
Bank to Gaza, while Palestinians should devise a plan to stop
launching missiles.
There are some general reservations and some
specific ones regarding this plan. The US Administration, considers
the problem to be one of security resulting from the violence of the
Intifada against the occupation and considers this violence as
terrorist acts, while it views the Zionist acts of terror against the
Palestinians as self-defence, although everybody knows that the
problem is generally a political one resulting form the Israeli
occupation of Palestinian territories that is still continuing through
the confiscating of lands to build settlements and through the racial
separating wall. And this is what has frozen all solutions including
the unacceptable ones such as the road map, since the fundamental
condition is to stop the Resistance.
Secondly: The plan did not ask Israel to stop
shelling the Palestinian homes and camps, nor did it call for stopping
arbitrary detention. On the contrary, it gave it the liberty to do so
in the name of self-defence… This is what preventing any agreement on
pacification, since what the Resistance is doing is but a reaction to
the killings and invasions that impel them to deter the enemy, by
shelling the settlements.
Thirdly: The removal of roadblocks could give
the Palestinians some freedom of transportation, but this is not the
core of the problem, it is the withdrawal from the West Bank. But
America does not want that, because it does not want, neither now nor
in the foreseeable future, any radical solution of the Palestinian –
Israeli struggle; at least t not before Israel implements it
settlement occupational strategy.
The security plans and Bush's impasse
Fourthly: On the other hand, the Arab side is
looking for a comprehensive solution for the struggle with Israel
through the Arab initiative. But Washington proposes only partial
plans to deal with this complicated struggle, which means that it is
not ready to be involved with a real settlement of the Palestinian
problem, the reasons being the impasse the Administration is now
facing both internally and externally. On the internal level, it is
involved in a big struggle with the Congress democratic majority which
ties the financing of occupation in Iraq with a timetable for
withdrawal of the troops. Externally it is becoming more and more
stuck in. The Iraqi quagmire, as well the Iranian increasing defiance
concerning the nuclear issue.
Therefore, the real motives that lie behind
presenting such a plan is creating a media campaign promoting that
America is furthering the peace process to win the Arabs support in
Iraq, while it is as actually postponing any settlement, probably till
after the end of Bush's term. Then the negotiations will have to start
all over again, with no guarantees for its success.
Therefore, the Palestinians are compelled to
refuse this plan so that it will not act us a sedation that freezes
the resistance against occupation. Thus, we welcome the rejection of
the Resistance and that of the government, and we find that the
Authority has taken a hesitant attitude towards it.
The American strategy and the alleged Iranian enemy
The Arabs, with the Palestinians in the
forefront, have offered concessions regarding Palestine, to the extent
that they even accepted the 1967 territories but Israel and America
were not satisfied and they are expanding in most of the West Bank, as
well as Jerusalem, and then when the final state negotiations are due
there will be nothing to negotiate on.
Thus, in such an atmosphere, the Arab states,
the American vice president is visiting , should take a
self-respecting stand towards this issue, and avoid being tricked by
the American Administration or being pressurized by it, so as to move
away form the mother cause (Palestine) and turn towards confronting
the alleged Iranian aggression that America wants to preoccupy the
Arabs with, although Iran had showed every intention to cooperate with
them politically and economically. It has also ensured them, that its
nuclear project is not a military one that threatens the region, but a
peaceful one that other countries like Egypt and Gulf States intend
also to use nuclear power to generate electricity.
Some Arabs are trying, in their own way, to
strengthen the position of the Zionist prime minister, who was about
to fall. They have received the enemy's Foreign Minister, and engaged
in dialogues that will not yield any results, for the Zionists will
not accept any Arab initiative or any road map except after they
realize their strategy, the Arab officials' attempts to say otherwise
notwithstanding.
Unprecedented American interference in the Lebanese
affairs
On another level, the American Secretary of
State has gone into the details of the Lebanese crisis in a way
professionals Lebanese politicians cannot. She condemned the sit-in in
downtown Beirut, and attacked those who want the government to fall
even by democratic means, considering them a problem to the national
economy. She even went as for as counting the closed shops and the
unemployed Lebanese, forcing in her view, the immigration of the
youth… just like any member of the majority.
She also demanded the passing of the tribunal in
the Parliament, discarding the constitutional barriers, and said that
the Lebanese judges are not capable to try the murderers of the late
premier, Rafic Hariri, which means that it should be passed in the
Security Council that has turned into a council to issue international
resolutions concerning Lebanon, as if Lebanon has become a threat to
world peace. In this respect, it is funny that the Secretary considers
Lebanon's sovereignty and democracy as being important to the United
States, as if this democracy is threatened by an internal conflict.
She did not notice that the Lebanese democracy
is a consensual one, which has been violated by the majority or the
government that takes its decisions in the absence of a major Lebanese
sect, thus lacking a constitutional basis.
Moreover, the Secretary of State assertion that
Lebanese democracy and sovereignty represent a vital interest to the
US means that American wants to turn Lebanon into base for its
interests and political project, benefiting from the complicated
situation and some of the parties who have fallen under its tutelage
to execute its political plans.
The UN adopts Israeli claims
It is a pity that the UN Secretary General
relied in his report on the Israeli claims to ensure that arms are
being smuggled from Syria to the Resistance, although Syria, Lebanon
and the Lebanese Army have denied it. He also did not accept the
reports about smuggled arms form Israel to certain Lebanese parties,
ignoring that some of the reasons for this is that the international
powers have put their hand on Lebanon taking so many resolutions that
it has not passed concerning the Arab-Israel struggle which has been
going on for 60 years, especially resolution 1559 which was passed
upon Israeli demand and which has created many complicated problems as
a result of international intervention.
The On-going political row in Lebanon:
After a period of relative calm that created a
superficial impression of reconciliation, the political row was
continued.
We have noticed that the money spent for
reconstruction has become an issue for exchanging accusations between
the government and opposition. Also the so-called seven points are
once again a subject of debate, after the opposition has denied
agreeing on them. Moreover, the national unity government is totally
rejected by the party that has yielded to American pressure practiced
by the American Ambassador. As for the international Tribunal it is
still being debated under Chapter seven, as if the Security Council
has become a substitute for the Lebanese Parliament which the Lebanese
Authority refuses to provide the constitutional conditions to
implement it.
The Lebanese people are still living in
successive crises, and are concerned about the new problems and
threats the future hides, in addition to the economic hardships and
lack of vital services. The rift between the government and the people
has become so great. And they have all reached a dead end, which
nobody can find a breakthro
