To be a Muslim is to be
concerned with Muslims' affairs |

The First Sermon
In the
Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Opening up on Muslims' affairs
God says in Glorious Book:
Surely the (true) religion with Allah is Islam.
And
And whoever desires a
religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in
the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.
Being a Muslim in the formal juristic sense means that you have to
pronounce the two testimonies and believe in Allah's Books, Messengers
and Angels, in addition to the Day of Judgment. But certain traditions
of the Prophet suggest to the Imams of Ahl el-Beit that Islam is not a
formal issue only. It is not enough to be a Muslim to believe in what
you should believe, you have also to be committed in your relations to
other Muslims, by opening up on all the in issues, and causes that are
related to their living in freedom and dignity. You cannot ignore the
Muslims' affairs when they, for example, are facing great challenges
saying that: “I will mind my own business”.
To be a Muslim is to consider the
Muslims' concerns as your personal concerns. And make every effort to
improve their social economic and political conditions. It is to
consider yourself part of a family, one of the organs in a body that
is made of all Muslims.
Let us read what the Messenger(p.)
says: Whoever gets up in the morning and is not concerned with the
affairs of other Muslims is not a Muslim". When you wake up in the
morning and listen to the news or read a newspaper, and find out that
there is a Muslim people oppressed by the arrogant power, or another
Muslim people being massacred by the Jews or the enemies of Allah and
His Messenger, and you do not ask yourself what I can do to help, and
you have no feeling for their misery, then according to this prophetic
saying you are not a Muslim, even if you perform all the religious
duties. The Messenger also said: "One who listens to the call of a
Muslim (for help) and does not respond to it is not a Muslim".
If you hear a Muslim people crying
for help because the arrogant powers are attacking it, killing the
women, children and the elderly and occupying the land, and you do not
help then you are not a Muslim. Of course, such help may not be an
individual one, but rather through the authorities who possess the
right means, but this do not change the content of the Prophet's
saying that Islam is not a word or a feeling; it is an action. The
prophet says: "The believers in their love, mercy and kindness to one
another are like a body: If any part of it is ill, all the entire body
shares its sleeplessness and fear".
The Prophet(p.) also explained in
another tradition that the most pious believers and the closet among
them to Allah is he who gives faithful and rise to Muslims and he who
is whole heartedly with them.
The Prophet(p.) also says: that all
people are God's children. The ones Allah loves the most are those who
benefit His children and makes them happy. When you find someone who
loves them and takes care of them how would you feel about them. It is
evident that you will love those who benefit your children with their
knowledge wealth and power.
On the other hand, those who are not
inclined to help any of Allah's children will not earn Allah's love.
If this is the case, then we can deduce Allah’s, the most Exalted,
position of those who harm others or make them sad.
When the Messenger(p.) was asked
about whom Allah, the most Exalted, loves the most he said: He who
benefits people the most. Imam Al-Rida considered those living in the
best way to be those "who share their life with others" by the efforts
and services they offer for others that help them in living decently.
Imam As-Sadiq (a.s.) considered that
the best deed to meet Allah, the most Exalted, with is advising His
children. The Prophet (p.) also says: Who saves the people from a
flood or a fire his reward with be Paradise. What reward is greater
then this?
Imam As-Sadiq (a.s.) interprets the
ayah that Jesus (p.) was blessed wherever he was to mean that Allah,
the most Exalted, made him beneficial to people.
This is what Islam implies in the
practical life of Muslims: To maintain an Islamic unity of practical
consolidation. And this is what we need at a time arrogance and
disbelief have launched an all-out aggression against Islam, killing
their civilians and appropriating their lands and interests.
The Muslims have to stand unified to
ensure the spread of Islam throughout the world. They are neither a
minority nor weak, but they do not live this unity that joins between
them and allows them to employ their potentials for the good of the
entire nation, as well as the future.
The Second Sermon
In the Name of God, the
Compassionate, the Merciful
The Palestinian wound continues to
bleed daily: Children are being slaughtered in their schools and
houses, and women and old people killed in their homes. The hatred
that is embodied in the Jewish personality is being expressed
barbarically through these atrocities ever since they occupied
Palestine. Although the Arab and Muslim worlds have been good to the
Jews protecting them and giving them their right at a time they were
persecuted in the West and dispersed in the world, their racial
personality that hates all humanity made then plan for massacres that
kill others, the last of which was in Beit Hanoon which they turned
into rubbles, killing its children and infants and destroying its
house mosques and farms.
Yet, the murderous president, Bush,
justifies all this as an act of self-defence, and celebrates, along
with his administration, all the atrocities that are being committed.
This is because he and Israel are waging the same war to dominate over
the region. In the meantime, the international Quartet Committee
watches from the sidelines as the Palestinians are being killed, and
wait for the Palestinian Government to fall as a result of the
international and Arab blockade. They want to punish Hamas because it
refused to recognize Israel that everybody spoils, although they do
not recognize the Palestinian rights. They even conspired to eradicate
the Palestinians and disperse them without any humanitarian
consideration. This is the line of the wild western civilization that
appropriated sine the last century the entire political economic and
security reality of the Arab world.
The American policies produce terrorism.
The United States, its allies and its agents talk
about the spread of terrorism in the Islamic world, at a time they all
know that the plans they had adopted to fight the so-called terrorism
are the ones that encourage terrorism, and they are the ones that make
all the downtrodden hate America and strive to thwart its strategic
plans of hegemony, preventing it from achieving any political on
military victory in Iraq, Afghanistan Pakistan Lebanon or Iran.
The Americans punish their Administration
The last American elections in which the
Administration lost some of its positions indicate that the Americans
have begun to punish their Administration that has made them fall in
several defeats and increased the hatred of the downtrodden nations to
them. In this respect, we want the Americans to continue to monitor
the movements of all their officials on all levels to face the
ulterior goals of the Jewish Lobby and the neo-conservatives of the
Zionist Christians. We, as Arab and Muslim peoples, want to befriend
the American people and cooperate with them on the basis of just peace
and common interests.
The Arabs forgo the Palestinians Cause
We stay with the Palestinian cause,
to notice that the Arabs have forgone the Palestinian people in
abidance with the American orders. Many of them have renounced their
pervious commitments in boycotting Israel, engaging in trade and other
economic dealings with it. It is left on the Arab peoples to continue
this boycott to thwart the Israeli plans of their rulers.
We call on the Palestinian people
who proved their ability to persist in their steadfastness and
confrontation…
We ask them to find every political
and all other actions they take on the basis of promoting national
unity. The current stage does not bear any postponement of decisive
strategic stands.
We also call on the Arab peoples to
stand up against this American – European Jewish oppression that is
indirectly responsible for the enemies’ massacres.
Iraq: Resistance is the only means
Iraq too has had its share from the barbaric
catastrophe as a result of the American plans that aim at inciting
security anarchy, impoverishing the Iraqis inciting sectarian strife
and encouraging Takfiri terrorism albeit indirectly. Therefore, we
call on Iraqi groups to liberate themselves from all its political and
sectarian differences, and move to comfort the occupation with the
honest and active resistance since the only way to end the catastrophe
is by the withdrawal of the occupation whose president is talking
about victories being made. Thus, it is our duty not to let him
achieve such victories, since it means a defeat of the vital interests
of the Iraqi people.
Bush's mad policies
On the other level, America that
controls the UN Security Council continues to plan with the EU to pass
a resolution that unjustly sanctions Iran for trying to make the
atomic bomb, although it has repeatedly declared that its nuclear
program is peaceful. The American President has told his French
counterpart that Israel might bomb the Iranian nuclear project and
that the US understands this position.
But such threat is not militarily
realistic, because Iran has the ability to defend itself and expand
the scope of military operations, as it is evident from the latest
Iranian maneuvers. If Iran retaliates that will give the US the
opportunity to enter the war claiming that it is protecting Israel,
and this will lead to an explosion in the entire region. The Gulf
States should be concerned and strive not to let the developments lead
to such an outcome especially after Iran has proposed to conclude
joint defense treaties with them.
We are afraid that the loss of the
American President in the elections might lead him to commit a mad
action in the region represented by a new war, which the world has to
comfort. The success of such plans might threaten the security of
region and the entire world and spread violence all over.
Lebanon and foreign powers
Lebanon is preoccupied with the
complicated debates that reflect the deep political rift that had
entered the country into instability and the Lebanese people are
living a state of intense pressures on their security and living. The
Lebanese have lost their confidence in their leaders, and lost their
feeling that their government still exist, especially that it did not
set out plans to save the collapsed economy.
It is also doubtless that the
political and sectarian divide is further complicating the situation.
We say to all parties that the
country is still a battlefield for international and regional
conflicting interests. The talk about an external interest to care
about the country or help it is irrelevant, and rather deceitful,
since we did not hear any promises to equip the Lebanese Army with the
advanced weapons it needs to defend the country.
We say to all Lebanese: Save Lebanon
from all this infertile debate that will make the people sink in the
sectarian quagmire that will undermine their future.
