His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, delivered the two Friday prayer sermons at the Imamain Al-Hassanain Mosque, Ramadan, 6th 1437 H. – June, 10th 2016. Several prominent religious scholars, dignitaries and thousands of believers attended the Jumu’a prayer.
In the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about the religious duty of fasting. He explained that fasting is not just abstaining from eating and drinking. It is, in the first place, abstaining from what Allah has forbidden on the moral and ethical levels. Thus, fasting teaches piety and trains the Muslim on being pious; a practical lesson that he should continue to observe throughout the year.
In the second sermon, the Sayyed talked about the electoral law in Lebanon. He said that the political activity in the country is in a state of impasse, as the row concerning which should come first, the presidential or the parliamentary elections, is paralyzing the country. The Sayyed called on the political parties to rise above their partisan interests and enact a law that best serves the country and ends its political paralysis. He explained that this should be rushed to because the situation in the region is getting worse, which would have a negative impact on the country and cause additional fragmentation on the social and political levels.
The Sayyed also touched upon the situation in Iraq and Palestine. He commented on the recent terrorist attacks in Iraq, explaining that they are not against any sect in particular, but against the Iraqi people as a whole, so the people should unite so as to be able to confront it.
The Sayyed praised the last Jihadi operation in Palestine saying that it proves that the Zionist Enemy, despite all its oppression, was not able to defeat the Palestinian spirit of resistance and determination to continue the struggle for their rights.
