Wednesday, March 29, 2017 is the first of the month of Rajab 1438 H.

The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra), issued a statement in which it announced that Wednesday, March 29, 2017 is the first of the month of Rajab 1438 H. based on the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra).

Following is the text of the statement:

The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Rajab 1438 H. will be born on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 A.D. at 02:57 a.m. (GMT) that is, at 05:57 a.m. Beirut time. On the evening of this day (Wednesday eve), the crescent can be seen both by the naked eye and by the aid of telescopes.

The details according to the regions are as follows:

1- It can be sighted by the naked eye and easily in the western part of North America and Central America.

2- It can be sighted with the aid of telescopes, and it might be sighted by the naked eye, in North America, South America and some parts of Africa.

3- It can be sighted with the aid of telescopes in the African continent.

Therefore, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 is the first of the month of Rajab 1438 H. in the eastern and western hemispheres, according to the opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra) who deems it is enough to maintain the sighting even if with the aid of telescopes in any region of the world with which we share of the night.

We invoke Allah, the Most Exalted, to make this month a month of worship and full obedience to Him and to grant the believers success in doing what pleases and satisfies Him. We also invoke Allah and to unite the Muslims over the good and guidance, and to grant them success and victory. He is All-Hearing and Responsive. He is the Most Merciful.

Green: Easily seen by the naked eye
