Sayyed Fadlullah received the Grand Mufti of Egypt
|Sayyed Fadlullah: The Path of the Islamic unity does not cancel any party, but builds power for the nation|
The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah received Ali Jumaa, the Grand Mufti of Egypt who was heading a delegation that included the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, some senior officials of the Egyptian Embassy in Lebanon, and the journalist, Dr. Yahiya Al-Kaaki. The meeting touched on the Arab and Muslim situations and the means to protect Islamic unity through inspiring from the experiment of Dar at-Taqreeb in Egypt and from other unifying experiences.
The Mufti stressed that there are many issues which join between the Sunnis and the Shiites while the differences among them are very few, indicating that the dialogue among both parties, on the level of the elite, has never stopped, and it is mostly conducted through open hearts and good intentions.
He also emphasized that there are many universal attempts that aim at weakening the Islamic front, highlighting that it is necessary for the elite to adopt a practical mechanism for translating the unifying efforts in the practical field.
On his part, Sayyed Fadlullah emphasized that Muslims should conduct a dialogue and cooperate for the sake of establishing an Islamic power in the world so that the Muslim nation would turn into an effective nation that can participate in the world decision-making, stressing that unity does not cancel any party, but rather it builds power in the nation's reality.
The Sayyed also highlighted that Egypt, with its religious scholars, educated people and its aware and open-minded vanguard have always stood by the line of moderation in the nation. It has also played a special role on the level of bringing closer the viewpoints of the Islamic sects and had considerable contributions in this respect, such as the efforts exerted by Sheik Muhammad Abdou, Sheik Mahmoud Shallout, Abd el-Majeed Sleem, Hassan Al-Bana, and Shiek Mahmoud Al-Ghazali, in addition to many Egyptian publications such as "Rasael At-Taqreeb" and "Risalat al-Islam". Such publications were characterized by their academic and objective approach and have absolutely proved that the unifying experiments can succeed in preventing all attempts that aim at undermining the nation's internal security, unity and immunity, on the practical level as well as on the jurisprudential level.
The Sayyed also stressed that the nations' top religious scholars, including the Egyptian scholars, knew that the weakness and backwardness of the nation are due to two reasons:
The first is bringing closer the disputed viewpoints through inciting sensitivities and hatred and even producing courtesies. The other is giving the ambiguity in the marginal issues preference over the nation's main issues. For that reason, those religious scholars had worked on confronting the conspiracy through working on preserving entire Islam far away from the narrow sectarian spheres.
Therefore, we should follow those scholars in the line of bringing closer the Islamic sects and in the course of our issues that need the efforts of all parties, especially the religious scholars and not the debates or discourses of the disputed parties.
H.E. stressed that all Muslims should assume the responsibility of Islamic unity and not only one party or one state because we should not hold only one party accountable in case it commits any mistake or fails in performing its assumed message... Therefore, all parties, especially the religious scholars, must follow the path of unity and fear Allah in their words. They should also take into consideration the people and the negative effects that might result from the non unifying speeches, especially that the universal arrogance has worked on sowing the seeds of strife and hatred in the Arab and Muslim land to the extent that the others' destructive plans and plots were able to insinuate the nations' mass media that was involved in the game of dispersing the Islamic sects whether it wanted or not.
