Reception, Lebanese educational figures

Fadlullah: The random policies of the state subjected its institutions to the "occupation" of individuals.

His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received the delegation of the follow-up committee of the secondary teachers who have passed the competitive examination of the Civil Service Council. The delegation briefed the Sayyed on their sufferings and the state's promises for them that have not yet been materialized.

Iman Hnayneh talked on behalf of the delegation, pointing out to the fact that 1200 teachers, whose demands were not met yet, were sentenced to unemployment, so they were added to the list of those who have passed their examinations, but do not know their fate yet, in spite of the promises of the Minister of Education, which seem to extend till after the elections.

His Eminence said that one of the most important problems that the country is suffering from lies in the random policies at the political, educational, and social levels…etc, which govern the movement of the state due to the absence of the Ministry of Planning on which everyone conspired and prevented from being the guide, leader and planner of the general policy of the state, since it is meant for the country to be ruled by individuals and parties and not institutions. The country is also meant to be subjected to external directions, in order not to take actions on the basis of internal plans. Therefore, we note that jobs are falling prey to the sectarian, confessional, or personal calculations, while the competent job seekers are excluded with the protégés filling their places. This was obviously noticed in the Lebanese University, the University of the poor, that paid a high price due to these policies.

His Eminence saw that such random acts have made the country pay high prices to the detriment of its internal independence. This independence that was destabilized to serve the interests of individuals who sought to occupy the institutions in a way or another through employees they appoint without taking into consideration their affiliation, behavior, and potentials. However, the problem lies in the fact that many of these who raise the slogans of independence at the level of the relations with the outside, actually work on attracting more than one external power to stir the state internally through direct or indirect means and by excluding those who enjoy competence and replacing them with protégés and those who blindly follow the orders of their leaders. Certain names, which are full of dedication and loyalty, might emerge here and there; however they move in isolation and they are meant to suffocate in this forest that is full of thieves and lacks loyal people.

His Eminence called for finding quick solutions for the problems of the secondary teachers, and not postponing this issue till after the parliamentary elections, calling people to punish anyone who does not solve their problems in the elections and the like, and confirming that change and reform do not take place only via political programs, speeches, and rhetoric, but out of the people's feelings that it is necessary to accomplish change on the ground, in a way that prevents others from neglecting their just causes.
